Dedicated track car
I have an 06 C6 A6 w/ Z51 pkg, LPE CAI, Kooks Headers, Corsa Sport exhaust, tune, and Hardbar camber plates. I also have an extra set of wheels with R6's.
I am itching to make this a dedicated track car for next summer
Aside for a roll cage, in order of importance (and cost) what do I need to toss and what do I need to add? I know the seats and carpeting are the first to go and track seats are the first to add. Then what?
FYI, I do NOT race. I enjoy HPDE's with the local (MN, WI, IA)Corvette, BMW, and Porsche clubs.
Thanks.

Drifting
First: safety mods: cage, seat, hans, firesuit, etc.
Next reliability mods. More and bigger coolers, accusump, things that'll keep it from blowing up. Things to keep you reliable: coolsuit, etc.
Seat time. Never can have enough.

transmission. If your going to a dedicated track car and putting in a cage, change the trans to a manual.
also depending on how much you want to gut your car, toss the radio and speakers.
when the cage is installed, they can pull the air bags and frames, Heater core under the dash. Pull out the AC condenser and any related AC parts.
Install two small computer fans to blow on your windshield.
You can go to a almost full built race car, or just leave your car as is and driver it only on the track.
If you put a cage in dont do a cheap one. Reason the more safety gear you put in the more clubs like PCAs and BMWs will look to see if your safety equipment is up to spec and date.
Not advocate too not put in a cage and safety equipment, but do the cage and safety equip install too race tech standards. SCCA or NASA tech standards
Good Luck

I would think it would be cheaper to sell that car and buy one that has already been converted.. there are plenty of race cars for sale right now!!
I think you'd really make out!

I had a customer put in a cage (a different shop did the work) it was all in .095 wall which you can't race anywhere.

The BIGGER challenge is once you have your ( I am not going to race ) race prepared track day car is . . . . . ..
to NOT race it.
go ahead and start your crack addition now. It will be CHEAPER and safer.

We have a dedicated track car - and it also races.
We paid $500 for it and have had more fun than anything else we've ever raced.
