Default Speeds to expect at Blackhawk Farms?

Curious what speeds I could expect to reach at BlackHawk Farms in a mostly Stock C4 with Full Exhaust? I am curious becaue I want to match my speed on track to my increase in tire pressure.

-Thanks for any input!

Alright, thanks, I will probably increase my PSI by about 1.5 then. Thats according to the BFG guide for my new tires. I hope they hold up alright, I went with the g-Force Sport. Kind of hard to find a 255/50R16 these days.

Stock LT1 engine on street tires will barely break 100. On race tires maybe 110.

Just finished a double national T1 SCCA race there recently. Blackhawk is tough on tires. Turn one is currently like a cheese grater with all it's holes.

Last year I attended NASA's BHF event in July, it was blazing hot. I ran in the HPDE3 group. I normally run at Road America and my car over heated at BHF, it being a much shorter track. I think I ran 1:40 without downshifting at all, it was pretty sedate. IIRC I was around 110 MPH but that's with a lightened car, SR intake, ported heads, etc etc. I'll guess you get going something like 95 MPH.

Very tough on brakes, too! A couple of hard braking zones with no real long straights to cool things off! Bring spare rotors and pads!

Default Black hawk farms

The straights are not that long. Perhaps 90mph tops but more like 80. I agree that the track is tough on brakes. I would keep tire pressure up as the corners are going to cut into the outer edge.

I usually hit around 100 going under the bridge at Blackhawk with 96 Grand Sport. About 100 or so into kink before T7 and similar going into carousel and T6. BFG KD street tires, Hawk Blue pads and alignment. 330 HP LT4. FWIW, I don't think that speed on the straights affects tire wear. Standing start lap times were 1:27 or so.

If you want to preserve your street tires:

1. Make sure you have a little bit of negative camber in the front.
2. Run your tire pressures at max. on sidewall (36 - 44 psi) It will sharpen steering response and reduce chunking the outer tread blocks.
3. Take it easy in the corners and your tires will be fine.

If you have stock pads, your brakes are going to fade and will be limiting factor. Fresh brake fluid will help.

Are you running with Midwestern Council on Memorial day Monday?

Ok, Ill fill my tires a bit! I have Hakw HP+ pads on the way for all 4's. I have a DRM Bias Spring to install, and ATE Super Blue to flush the system with.

I'm not running the the midwest council. I will be there a few weeks later with NASA. I joined them for the first time earlier this year and this will be my first event on track. I am a little strapped for cash otherwise I would run more this year. I might make it to Autobaun with NASA in the fall, but I just want to take my time and get to know my car on track and advance from there. Eventually I want to get a racing licence through NASA and maybe run in the spec miata class for a while. I just want to race. In the future my vette might just become a fun time trial car that I can still drive on the street!
