SCCA National T1 Qualifying Results @ Mid-Ohio
A tough day of qualifying as both sessions were in the rain! My 1st session, the serpentine belt came apart on lap 4 thru thunder Valley and pulled it in.
Lap 3 was good enough for pole somehow! Found the P/S pulley on the pump was not seated all the way and the belt jumped off.
Took it all a part and pressed it on further and was good to go for round 2 Q. Still raining and we went a little quicker but not much but it was good enough for the T1 pole again and 2nd overall.
I am a sitting duck tomorrow with all the GT1 cars next to and behind me.
Couldn't pull up my laps but here is the starting order and what our mods our.
QUALIFYING:
1st: Aaron Quine
03 Z LG headers & X-pipe,DRM SS front pistons,GM rotors,Cobalt pads,untouched Crate LS6.
2nd: Tom Sloe
02 Z Headers?,4 piston alcons on all four corners with 2 piece rotors,
18" Forgeline race wheels and a balanced and blue printed Hutter's racing engine.
3RD: John Stracenski
03 Z untouched Crate LS6,Stock manifolds,no cats and stock brake set up with Carbotechs.
4th: Norman Betts
02 Z Coming in late tonight and will start at back of pack. Untouched
LS6,headers?, stock brakes.
Will have the chase cam in tomorrow, I am sure Tom Sloe will come up from 8th overall and run me down by the key hole.
We are running the club course (with chicane) and the weather shows to be beautiful with lots of sunshine and 80.
Hope to have a report & Video to share tomorrow night.

Had a blast today, congrats to Tom Sloe on the T1 win. What in hell you got in that thing? Tom checked out & was on his own planet and I was sight seeing all by myself. Bout the only thing I saw was Danny Kellermeyer in his C6 STO yellow car for a bit, and Amy Ruman and Ryan McManus in their GT1 cars lapping me like I was a parked car.
I had 2nd, John was 3rd with Norm in 4th. I am down loading race video over night and will try and post before I leave to Mid-Ohio again in morning for 3 ***** HPDE.
Car ran great with DRM's SS Pistons and so far I have to say I love these new Colbalt XR2 pads. Did see a high temp trans light for the first time ever with the pump/cooler on???? After that had about 3 4th gear mishifts at high RPM so I shifted at a little lower RPM and it was better. Probably should have the trans and diff checked, havent touched it since I got the car.
Track was pretty green considering all the rain fall saturday and we were group 3, not enough rubber put down from groups 1 & 2. So my fastest lap was only a 1:36.380 on the club course. Sloe had a
1:36.561 which really throws me off considering he took off and ran the ST0 cars down for a bit.
Pintaric had a great start in his new STO Viper and shot right up to 2nd by turn one. All the GT1 and STO boys did a great job on the start considering us slower cars were in their way.
Great to see everyone,
Aaron

Pintaric (Viper) 1:34.243
Kellermeyer (C5) 1:35.5.06
Vickerman (Camaro) 1:39.987
I am a bit disappointed in the performance (speed-wise) of my new car, but have to consider the fact that is was its first race and the track was slow. Tom Sloe, who I expected to set a new T1 track record, didn't get within 1 second of our times last year, so that tells me the track was at least that much slower today.
The car run flawlessly though, thanks to the efforts of Kryderacing. Matt Miller, Matt Carson and Jerry Palmer worked on this thing until 10 PM Saturday night getting things "just right." They constantly amaze me with what they can accomplish.

Allow me to share this with all of you...
I was driving home from the track today with a real good sense of satisfaction, and a fair amount of pride. I now hold both the T1 and STO Mid Ohio track records.
This means quite a bit to me, because so many great racers have held those records (at least the T1 mark), and to put my name in that group is a source of pride to me. I know a few people have made comments about my driving, but my response to that is that I don't see one driver holding two records at Mid Ohio too often.

I'd pat myself on the back, too! I mean-- if I didn't sprain my arm like you did..
