My car will be at DRM over the winter getting a full cage so I can run NASA/SCCA events next year.

Thanks. I was thinking around 8k. I know its a lot of labor given the aluminum frame - was curious what others have gone through. I Was going to put a 4 point in for the time being but it seems as though the bolt ins do not offer much more safety as compared to a harness bar.

When I spoke with Joe last year I thought he said about 12K. Maybe prices have come down. Tom, I looked into the Autopower cage as well.
Good luck Tom

here is a link to info on the Autopower cage. This was a prototype I think so I don't know how complete the finished kit is. Looks like you have to weld everything together yourself, and obviously bolt/gusset plates to the frame

Yikes! $12k for just a cage? I just had my C5Z caged for $3k (not including window nets, fire system, etc.). Cage is SCCA/NASA spec for T1 or ST2, etc. I think with a C6Z aluminum frame they have to sandwich the frame with steel plates and then weld the bars to the steel plates.

We can build you a cage legal for any sanctioning body in a c6 Z, all tig welded, full interior painted for 6k. Unfortunately, my cage is already tested with an airborne assault into a concrete wall at Rd Atl in march. I didn't get a scratch. Pics at www.vettesport.net

If you are referring to method of attachment it is briefly as follows. Steel Uchannel plates are fit to the frame at 6 points. These are then 3m epoxied and bolted entirely thru the frame with aluminum spacers to prevent crushing the frame. The cage is then welded to the channel. The front A pillar cage bar is bolted to the aluminum front vertical support bar on each side tying in the cage to the rigid aluminum support there. A full tube is run under the dash tying in the front A pillar cage bars. Car weighed post install with 185# driver 3100#. My cage has 1 3/4" .120 DOM tubing. You can use 1 5/8 .120 for SCCA.

What is the cost break down for a 10 to 12K cage in a C6Z06
material?
Hourly rate?
Total hours?
Is the cage the same spec as used by the Corvette racing team "GT2"?
