The Adjustable Magnetic Suspension is as advertised........impressive. No wonder Ferrari and Mercedes use it under license from GM.

I thought BMW was licensing it too?
Yes, Cadillac/GM have some of the best suspension technology in the world. Nothing could match the Seville/Deville/Eldorado and the infinitely adjustable damping technology when GM started developing it. I still have a '97 Seville with the dual valves that switch back and forth in milli(micro??)seconds to create whatever desired damping rate the pcm/suspension/steering inputs decided was optimal-and it still works!
The evolution into ferromagnetic fluid was a much more sound mechanical solution greatly reducing the maintenance and moving parts of that type of suspension, and increasing the reliability.
Maybe you can tell I'm a big fan?:o

Good video ...
I should have come over to talk to you ... mybad ... I was running the QS Z in group C.
Yes ... the Gen I magnetic is good ... tho some have experienced some heat-related issues under heavy track use. The ZR1 has the Gen II ... I watched them and the Z06's cornering down at VIR in '08 and the ZR1 stayed significantly flatter around turn 5.
Perhaps you'll be back out in July for the Corvette HPDE on the Summit Main ...

yes it is the Jefferson...........
I signed up for the Shenandoah one, but FATT for that track was booked.
Maybe next time, .........track time is not a cheap affair and you need the day off from work or family......its a real commitment.
But, the best investment in your Corvette is the ability to pilot a STOCK one at the limits expertly,..........most drivers dont attain that status. I chose to invest in myself and will continue advanced training.

It is more of an addiction than commitment! Welcome it. I try to get my vette friends to do it, but they prefer 1/8 mi. They boast about running 105 and I'm like I do that in a increasing off camber turn and most of the time with early turn in.

Cool video!
Were you riding with Cassidy in the 1B group?
I was running the Red Z in 1A...
That was a good day for your first time! It was my second time on track... 1st time was over on the main course.
DEFINITELY like crack... best adrenaline rush I've had in a LONG time.

Yes with Cassidy (good instructor) in 1B group...............also did the skid pad 3 times......even in a cop car is was big fun.
The most educational time of the day is when it rained (when quite a few guys left),.........my run flats were like slicks. I was sliding all over the place. You learn very quickly when you realize that a extended slide will cost you your car......its not going to hurt the trees.
I had a real advantage though, I lived in Germany, went to BMW driving school to get my International drivers license, drove all over Europe, then moved to Alaska and had the frozen tundra to practice on 8 months a year (in a 69 Fastback Mustang).

Helmet
extra set of wheels and tires
pads and rotors
track time
That incomplete list alone is a couple thousand dollars.
But you have to pay to play and you cant skimp on safety.
Here is my drag racing effort.

The wet session was SLICK! I really backed off to the dissmay of the other instructor who rode with me that session... I think he said he hadn't driven that track wet before. I've done the main course wet and it wasn't nearly as bad. I was surprised at how many pushed it in the run group... 3 cars off that time.

*raises hand* as another participant of that event in the 1B group. Had to order new pads and rotors because I toasted the ones that were on it (previous owner installed).

Highly recommended for any members that have not gone out, opened up the throttle and run your car all out (without the potential tickets).
You really get to experience a Corvette in its natural element..........a purpose built sports car with outstanding engineering.........a ZR1 must be heaven.

Just signed up for the August 7th Northern Virginia Corvette Club event. This is also on the Jefferson Circuit but for the price...........who cares ? Under 200.00 for an all day event ? Big fun for cheap.
