Tire question for 1st HPDE Event
I have a question as I prepare for my 1st HPDE at VIR in a couple weeks. I flushed and filled brake fluid with Motul 600 dot 4 and performed all service on a stock c6. New pads and rotors. For tires, I have 2 sets wonderring if one would be better than the other
Set #1 are the factory tires with about 11,000 miles on the more than 50% tread remaining (GoodYear Eagle F1)
Set #2 are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S these have 6,000 miles and have 85% tread remaining.
Also any thing else I should be aware of would be helpful.

The most important things to remember is that you are not racing and just to have fun and more fun.
Here is a link to the NASA web page on HPDE. At the bottom of the page there are several article that you might find of use.

You are there to learn and have fun. You will not be setting track records or be recruited by P&M Racing. Leave the ego home and go in with an open mind.
With that being said, I would use the GY tires. There probably won't be much left after 7-8 sessions and you can put the Michelins on when you get home.
I figure you are running the NCM event. I will be there in a question answering and advising capacity. Feel free to find me. Most of those folks know me and can point you in the right direction.

If I were you I'd use the stock tires and take it easy. Ypu're there to learn how to handle your car so the tire choice really won't make that much difference. As has been said earlier - this is not a race. Remember that and learn from your instructor.

with all above post about using your Goodyear's. I would only use the Michelin's with more tread if we end up with a wet and rainy track. Lets hope for a dry track.

Since it's your first DE event, the tire choice that you're considering is academic. Focus on safety, on your instructor's advice, on your driving skills, and on the track.
And have fun!

Can't tell what kind of tranny you have, but if you have the stick, you might want to repl stock clutch fluid with some of the Motul. My first track day in my TA didn't take long for clutch to stick to floor. BTW, what pads did you install? They weren't ceramics were they?
