Many years ago when I was racing a deer jumped over a porsche 911 that was just in front of me. The deer was in some brush just past the start finish line and cleared the car. After the session I talked to the driver, Rick Mandelson, and he saw something in a flash but there were no marks on his roof. When Pat Goodman was the track caretaker he had a M1 and kept the deer population down.

Was at a Summit event last year when an M3 BMW caught a doe on the main straight. Took out the front bumper, hood and right quarter panel. At least it could be an insurance claim with the hair and blood all over the car. Hope that the bike rider was not hurt too badly. Give me 4 wheels and something wrapped around me anytine.

man that was horrible. Cut the deer in two, Hope the guy was OK.

I was thinking of tracking a bike less work and hassle. When I watch them at Pocono most of the guys look slow slow slow!

Maybe 15 years ago, was doing a long night endurance race at Summit Point...and about 11pm-ish when my co-driver is in the car, he calls on the radio and says "There is a cow walking up-track, on the race line, just before Turn 1".

Many puzzled looks, but then the whole pit lane starts to chatter with calls from drivers about the cow. Bossie then had a better idea and wandered off into the wood.

Also had a friend take a turkey thru the windshield at a Summit Point race...and he wasn't going to stop until he got black-flagged / meatballed...even though there was dead turkey guts all over the inside of the car, and the turkey was lying on the passenger side floor.

We've got a woodchuck up @ NHMS that goes out next to the track and sits there to watch the cars.

He never goes out on the track.
I guess he just likes to see the meatball flag come out for him.

evidently splitters are the answer

Did the deer ever come down? Looks like it got stuck in a tree.

I too thought it looked like it was laying there well as, possibly hit by a previous rider.

although in decent shape if I take a good dump off one I'll lose my business. That is what has kept me off. Not sue if I want one for the street. Near every time at Pocono the chopper comes for someone. I miss riding.

I can do 500 miles of track time with less issues than a 18 mile ride to work on the street .
20 yearold girl did a U turn from the rt. lane . I went through the drivers door of her SUV with a Busa at 40
riding for 30 years ....quit , im out numbered

Yep, there is also one on the outside of the Carousel at Nelson Ledges in Ohio that does the same thing!
I raced a 750 Kawasaki with AAMRR and WERA from 1973 thru 1977. On Memorial Dqay 1977 I had a high side accident at Bridgehampton and broke lotsa bones. I spent the night in the Southhampton hospital. That same weekend we had a fatal accident when AMA expert Sue Roper was killed. My wife and her husband, Dave were in the ER together. My wife said "no more bikes" after that. I still miss bikes, but I have no regrets for my decision.

I posted my Summit Point ZR1 track vids from 6/18 in another thread. About 12:30 into the second video, one shoots across in front of me prior to the chute.

Missed it by THAT much...
