Default Jegs Cordless Impact Wrench: Thumbs Up!

I have been looking for a cordless impact wrench to remove my wheels to switch to track tires, brake pad changes, etc, but I didn't think I would use it enough to justify the high price of some of the name brand tools.

I found a 1/2 inch cordless model from Jegs with 335 ft-lbs of torque, for $99 on sale. I have used it several times and it has worked very well. I can remove all 4 wheels and replace them on a single charge, but I have not tested it to see how much longer it would last. It loosens lugs that are all torqued to 100 without any difficulty, and although I can't tell you I have years of experience with it, so far it's been a reliable, affordable addition to the garage.

Looks like a nice unit.

I bought a similar one from Northern Tool for around that price and as you said it will last all weekend at the track and still has plenty of power left. The Northern unit has 2 batteries.

It will easy spin off caliper bolts TQ to 125 ft. lbs.

You will wonder how you did without it!

I got the Goodyear one 2 years ago from Pep boys for 79.99 after rebate. It has been a good one. Came in really handy when doing motor swap. It can break loose 100 ft/lbs lugs with no problem. It doesn't have a torque limiter so you have to be careful installing lugs. Just keep it charged. Good tool to have around.

I bought this one 2 days ago, so far its been wonderful, will put it to some more testing tomorrow. I hope it lasts a while for that price

I was looking in my local pep boys for the Goodyear one, but wast able to find any, salesperson had no clue about it either, would have been great for that price, cant beat it..

Nice! I have a good DeWalt unit, but a cheaper option would have been nice, lol.

My Dad got a Milwaukee M18 1/2" impact for Father's Day. I've used it a bunch since then. ()

Zipped off 4 wheels and installed them without losing one "bar" of charge.

it's their brand new model with a massive 450 ft. lbs of torque.

I sucked it up and bought a V28 Milwaukee and I do not regret it at all. Super useful, no air hose, tonnes of torque. Love it.

do these things have setting to adjust torque like on a standard drill? ie. do you use it to put lug nuts on or just to remove them quickly?

So you dont need to brerak loose the nut before. Thats one thing I noticed with my craftsman sears 160$ crap, I need to break the nuts before and they are only set to 97ft lb. The rating on the craftsman is like 200, so it should technically work, but it doesnt. I am going to buy this one and see how it works, if you dont have to break the nut loose.

I dont belive you can, all you need to buy is a torque limiter, same things that the shop uses. I bought a whole box but needed only one of them @ 90 ft lb, but i have limiters in that box ranging from 60ft lb to 150 ft lb, if you need one let me know, we can work something out, else you have to buy the whole freaking thing , which for us is a waste of money.
