Here's a Video from the NCM event at VIR this past Monday. I posted here figuring it would get lost in the multi page thread already running. As mentioned in that thread, it was a great time and nice to see all the usual suspects chipping in by volunteering.


This video features Don Esbjornson, Steve Landstra and I taking turns passing each other. Save the comparisons as this was just for fun. To clarify, Don and Steve have mod upgrades and my car is 100% bone stock!

Nice video Mike. I don't get to see myself drive very often, and appreciate that you hang back to catch Steve and I playing hard.

Interesting, as I'm heading down the back straight, slamming gears at redline, your car sounds like it's on a Sunday drive right behind me.

what is the total list of traqmate equipment you have? is the overal of guages etc.. an extra cost??

Love the video quality, gauges, etc. I'm running Traqmate, but using GoPro HD for camera. They don't sync. What camera set up is that, and is it difficult to use (sync) or automatic?

The camera is the cheap-o Aiptek 720P HD (~$80 - here's a link) with a home made wide angle lens adapted to it. The camera uses SD cards so downloading to the computer is a breeze.

I used to use a real high dollar Sony camera, but these cheap azz HD cameras blow those expensive tape machines away. I've been using this Aiptek for over a year and haven't had any issues.

The data collection system is the Traqmate Complete with the tach module.

I use Trackvision to synch the video with the data. Trackvison will accept video from any camera (once it's downloaded to the computer) and let's you merge it with data from almost any data collection system. Trackvison makes that synchronization real easy. Trackvison also lets you pick from a multitude of data formats to display the data on the video. The one on this video is the Traqmate II model display.

When I bought my Traqmate the camera system for the Traqmate wasn't available. They recommended Trackvison as a data/video merge program, that's how I first started using it.

I had the pleasure of following the Landstra car during the second yellow session on Tuesday. I don't know who was driving it but it made for the most fun session I've ever had at VIR.
