Default Who has aftermarket seats?

Looking to eventually upgrade my stock 3LT seats for some more supportive yet lighter seats.

Interested in a few things:

What kindof seats are you running? (Brand, model, etc)
Pics to share?
Weight with rails?
Did you use the stock rails or aftermarket?
Any stock functionality of the seats retained?

I'd really like to find those folks in GA, AL, TN, SC I could hook up with and see the seats first hand as well as sit in them. I'm 6'0" 225lbs so seat position and head clearance is important (with helmet).

Hope to hear from a nice variety of options.

I'm in the process of installing Corbeau FX1 Pros in my 01 C5Z. I'm installing them with the Hardbar seat rails. Once the the seat rails come in I'll let you know how it goes. I think the FX1 Pro weighs about 19 lbs. Here's what it looks like on my shop floor.

I believe Bondurant uses Corbeau. I really liked the seats in their C6. They supported better in my shoulders than my Sparco evo.

Those look sharp gmccreary! As wild as it might sound I'd be willing to make the drive to Macon to check them out once you have them installed. Seats are definitely one of those things I want to see and feel before I make the jump.

19lbs each............. I like that. If you don't mind can you shoot me a PM with the info of where you got them. These are on my list.

Very interesting feedback. I believe the Evo is part of their competition lineup. Thanks for the personal experience. Sparco is one brand I'm considering as well.

Deeper seats work best although not as easy to enter and exit.

I thought about calling them to find our which model and replacing the evo driver with two of the corbeau. Here is a link to the school car that has the corbeau.

You can get two Corbeau FX1s for less than the price of one Sparco Evo. One caveat is that the FX1 is not FIA/SFI rated. I plan to install a back brace on mine.

I have Sparco Evo 2s in my C5Z06. Sparco bases on both sides with a Sparco slider on the driver's side. IF you use a slider it will add about an inch to the height of the seat. I had the seat cushions remade to be half as thick to keep my helmet off the roof liner. My wife is a foot shorter than me and she uses the car on track as well.

My primary suggestion to you is to find a seat that fits YOU, not what everyone else is using. There are lots of seats out there that were in my price range and available, but the Sparco Evo 2s fit me best (5'11" 190lbs 36" waist).

For the record on 2003 Z06 seat weights:

Stock Driver with motor and base: 38.4 lbs
Stock Passenger with slider and base: 30.8 lbs

Sparco Evo 2 with base and slider: 36.6 lbs
Sparco Evo 2 with base: 32.2 lbs

I lost 1.8 lbs on the driver side and gained 1.4 lbs on the passenger side. So for almost $2000, I lost .4 lbs. Pretty good, right?!?!?!

Says something to me about the Corbeau seats if Bondurant is running them. Those seats get way more of a workout than mine will. Thanks for finding and sharing.

FIA/SFI ratings? What's that mean exactly? My guess is I wouldnt need to worry about this running HPDE and other classes at my level? The ratings are more for pro level racing correct?

Great post!

I've read from others that the Sparco's tend to sit high especially on sliders. I'll have to look out for that. The C5Z seats were pretty light from what I recall when I had mine. The C6 seats I have are like 8 way adjustable with side airbags, etc. Last time I checked the passenger seat was just under 60lbs with bracket still attached. Sounds like I may be able to drop 40-60lbs just in swapping both seats.

I had the good fortune to test many seats and settled on the Racetech 1009 for my passenger seat and the 4009HR for my seat(head restraint) and love them. I have driven 300 miles none stop and aside from not being able to move around much they are incredibly confortable and very supportive on the track.

My C5 race car had a brand new Sparco head restraint seat when I bought it, it hurt my back so I sold it.

I could not get comfortable in any of the Corbeau seats but wish I could, they are local to me and far less expensive.

Very true, Mark, and I have been tempted to pull it out for NASA TT. That would be a quick a quick 32lbs gone. Taking people for rides with the other groups I work with is one of the main reasons it stays in there.

Hmmm.... you might want to swing by my pit on Friday night and help me take it out. I'll need it for Friday, but not Saturday and Sunday.

Sparco Pro2000 seats with Pfadt mounts. Sparco slider on Driver's side only. Passinger is fixed mount. Mounts are aluminum and offer a lot of seat angle and height adjustability. We did not save more than about 2 pounds over stock manual seats (99 FRC so same as C5 Z06 manual seats), but you gain lateral support and don't have to worry about trying to hold yourself in place. You know - the left knee through the speaker cover!

If you can mke it over to Birmingham, I know Speedsouth has a couple of Corvette's in the shop right now with different seat options (a Z06 and a ZR1) and they're working on a solution for another Z06 customer who is 6'8".
