Hood liner question
This is part track, autocross, street car. On it's way to mostly track. So...
I'm installing some hood vents to get the under hood temps down. They'll also help extract some air from the wheel wells. I'm cutting holes in those too.
Can I just remove the hood liner and leave it out? What are the pros/cons of this? (looks are not important).

Mine is long gone... it's there for noise suppression mostly. I have been told that in the event of an engine fire the plastic clips melt and the material helps to smother the fire.
Most all aftermarket hoods don't even have the provision for one.

Burning Brakes
I have a light weight hood with no liner or reinforcements. There is some vibration because of no reinforcements, but after driving with it a few times, I do not notice it now.

I hand painted mine to perfection and simply cannot bring myself to remove it even though it is a very serious dedicated track car.
I'd say take it out but do as I say, not as I do

Thanks guys. It's out of the car now. I figured noise was the biggest reason. The fire suppression I was curious about. I have a roll bar in there now so a fire extinguisher will be installed soon. Just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed some important reason.

Now you will hear all types of engine noise you never heard and you will be thinking something is wrong.
