Default Why cant we have evening track days?

I think it would be cool if they started evening HPDE's.. although alot of cars that dont have lights would need them to do it. running the Glen or limerock for instance would be interesting..

what do you guys think? should we move to having them?

Most tracks have noise restrictions in the evening.

It isn't a track event as such but the Central NY Region of the SCCA runs a night enduro autocross at a Go Kart Track in Lafayette, NY. The track length is around a half mile. You have to use headlights and the winner is determined by how many laps they can run in 5 minutes or so.

Given the layout it could be thrilling to drive at night with headlights only.

I used to run Shannonville with a group of guys from about 4pm until it got dark. It depends on what you call "evening."

No way I would run in a HPDE that ran in the dark.

We've run Charlotte Motor Speedway at night. I think a lot of it is visibility, ie seeing the corner workers etc. I'm sure noise is also an issue at many facility's as well

I've run the Texas Motor Speedway ROVAL at night.
The oval is well lit and the infield road course is dark. You sometimes wonder if your lights are on.

It does look cool with glowing rotors and exhaust. I was behind a turbo Porsche one time. The glow from his turbo made it look like he had neon lights under it.

Palm Beach ( Moroso ) runs the evening during the hotter months. Great option for us working slobs, to put in a day at work then head out for some evening laps...... .....Support Your local Track

NASA-Az runs an event at Firebird Raceway Main once a year as and enduro race and an import challenge, losely vs. the Corvettes from members of ACR (Arizona Corvette Racing). Very interesting! I invested into some 8000W C5R lights for that event.

Since no one has expressly stated the obvious yet...

Deer? Groundhogs? Woodchucks?

Maybe if you can find a facility (such as a Nascar track) with fencing and no woods adjacent to the fenced off track area.

Sorry but there's a good reason why the tracks close at 5pm ish.

Ya they have them in AZ, except not in the summer, which makes no sense to me

Summer is when we need them!
