Default Rent Motor Sports Ranch in Cresson, TX?

Hi everybody,

Has anyone ever rented the Motor Sports Ranch track? I am looking for a new place to host our club event within 100 miles of the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
The old helicopter pad in Mineral Wells is our usual back up option for our autocross weekend.

Can anyone tell me about their experience with MSR or any other tracks/facilities in North Texas?

Thanks!
Jon

Contact the DFW PCA organization; I know they run their Time Trials there once a year on the 1.7 course.

Have a good one,
Mike

Check with Rick Schwalenberg at The Drivers Edge (www.thedriversedge.net, or rick@thedriversedge.net). They're running the long course (3.1 mile) at MSR in two weeks. That group runs MSR a few times a year, so he can give you the low down on how the track is to work with, etc. Rick's a stand-up guy, so he'll shoot you straight.

you could check out Eagles Canyon in decatur. I had fun at one of their track days, but I dont know how they would be to deal with as far as renting the track. Ive done MSR cresson every way except the 1.3, and personally the 3.1 was my favorite to drive.

Hallett up in OK will rent out on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays for only $1100, though there can be additional costs depending on what kind of cars you are bringing, and how many. Me and a few buddies are renting it out October 6, will be interesting to get that much butt time in one day!

Thanks for the info everyone!

Godzilladude, be careful at Hallet! I've seen lots of cars come home from there with tire wall and tree marks on them.

We are a member there and have rented it for a day or so to do race car testing. Don't know what the costs would be if you were not a member or if they would rent it. I know it is cheaper to do during the week than a weekend.

Give them a call and see. The guys are generally in the office Wed-Sunday.

Looks like they do rent to non-members. They said the 1.3 mile course goes for $3700 per day on weekends. I'm thinking my club is gonna shoot me down on this one...

That seems like a good price. You don't want to know what Sebring costs per day.

TSTC is still good even though we lost our area out side the gate. We are still working on it though.

Hi Don! Its good to hear from you! We haven't been doing a lot of running this year, but maybe things will be less chaotic next season.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy using TSTC, but its a long way for some of our club members to drive. I've been hoping to find a closer track or airport we can use. I plan on talking to the folks at the old municipal airport in Graham that we used to run on...if they aren't still mad about the taxi-ing airplane and passing car incident from 2002. The FAA just isn't very understanding anymore.

Later--

Yea Jon, the FAA is who kicked us off the out side area, someone who we pissed off turned us in & because of the "Whistle Blower Law" we can't find out who so that we can talk it over.
If David Sibley would of got in I could of talked to him about it, but now who knows.
Cresson is a fun track we have a member of our Club that belongs to it but he lives out of state right now.
Graham could be set up to be a fun track if someone takes the tme to do it correctly.
Good luck with your search, we might be looking also one day.

Jon, still waiting to here back, but I had a thought ( believe it or not )
The club that I am the Pres. of Texas Comp.Corvette Cl. hasn't matched up for a wk. end with any one yet for next year & we could work the timing if it would be OK with Joe R. and work together on the rest of the duties as we have done in the past. Of course I would have to run that by the group.

A 14-event weekend would sure bring the national points chasers out...

Well Jon unless your club has deeper pockets then ours I don't think this will happen at Cresson. $4,700.00 per day on week ends, paid in advance when the track is booked. Plus our corner workers would have to pass a test to work their corners or we pay their workers. This info is from a member.
I don't think that we average more then around 50 per event maybe we could get more with some thing like this but the cost would have to be some where around $200.00 per driver & hope that you can break even.
Last year the club that does Robeling road barley broke even & that was a panic because the club members had to make up the diff.
Any way just some info.

You may get that many. I think they had 60+ at Hallett this year with a $230 entry. If we make it a high speed we would also have to hire an ambulance and a wrecker.

I wouldn't want to try & make it a low speed on that track plus some might not come to a high speed track to run a low speed auto x
I bet that you could add a grand for those also unless they have some one that does it for them already.
