I think I might love the elevation changes. Then again Sebring is my home track.
Well, the total elevation change over the track is only 131 feet. That's huge by Florida standards but for perspective, the elevation change at Spa's Eau Rouge is 90 feet from the bottom of the gully to the top of the first rise.
Road racing is *much* better with elevation changes - both from the driver's and the spectator's POV. The track at Istanbul is a great example. It's just far more fun to watch and the drivers love it. Think of the Nordschleife and how much more interesting it is with all the ups and downs.
So far so good with the Austin track. I hope they can actually get it done in time. I hope that the Austin folks really support it (not just for the first couple of years) and I hope that the U.S. fans *go* and support it with their dollars and their presence. And I *really* hope that the weather cooperates and doesn't fry everyone to a crisp like at Phoenix.
I foresee a conversation with Grand Prix Tours coming up
