SAVE THE DATE -- October 30, 2010 -- Frank Gonzalez Bench Presentation
Dear Forum Members,
SAVE THE DATE -- OCTOBER 30, 2010
It's been nearly 7 months since Frank Gonzalez passed away. It was touching to see how many stepped up with a combination of prayers, heartfelt words and donations to Frank's Bench fund at the National Corvette Museum (NCM).
As you may recall, with your generosity the goal of raising capital to erect a full bench in Frank's memory was met. After many renditions, Steve Landstra, Adam Boca and I approved the final design 6 weeks ago. A special thank you to GM designer Kirk Benion for his effort in creating the initial design and reworking all the edits.
We will be celebrating Frank's life and how he touched all of us at the NCM on October 30, 2010 midday (12:00pm) when we present the bench to his family. The tribute will be followed by an early afternoon lunch where we will have time to reminisce and recall great moments we had with Frank.
Anybody that would like to attend is welcome and encouraged. All I ask is an RSVP in this thread or PM me so we can make the proper arrangements in terms of attendance.

I was just thinking about this over the weekend and was going to ask, glad it is all coming together. I am Franks family will be overwhelmed once the bench is revealed as will all attendees.

Great job, thanks to Mike and others that worked so hard to make this happen! As much as I would like to be there, I will be unable to attend. I look forward to seeing the benck and it's design. JD

Mike,
Count me in! As Master of Ceremonies for this special occasion I expect you will wear tux and top hat. Actually, I would come just to see that!
I understand the engraving was done over an existing bench due to the out of service status of the vehicle pictured on that bench.

No master of ceremonies, just good friends getting together to remember and honor a good man.
Despite rumors of inactive vehicles, Frank's scheme is etched in a fresh slab of granite.

Understandably you live too far away to make it, but will be there in spirit. I know there's not too many people you trust to drive your Mosler.......on track.

I will be arriving on Saturday morning. I am in contact with Frank's wife, Marylou. It's her plan to come with her son and a number of her family members. She is very appreciative of the efforts of all of Frank's friends in the Corvette community to make the bench happen.
I hope a number of us can make it to the bench dedication.

I really wanted to attend this event and help pay tribute to a truly special person. But something has come up: one of my staff is returning from her honeymoon and has invited my wife and I to a reception. Being the "boss" comes with obligations, and as such I must attend.
Please give my regards to Frank's family.
