Default GTA's wreck at SIC/V8 Stockcar race

Today we had a "qualifying" race for the V8 Stockcars during the SIC at Roebling ROad. V8 stockcars is a series that runs within the SCCA races. It has 4 classes: SPO, GT1, GTA and GT2. The culmination of the series is at ROad Altanta at the ARRC. My STO corvette runs in the GT2 class. I qualified 5th overall right in front of the 2 GTA cars running for their championship. Rather than get in the middle of their battle and ruin their race, I pulled over and let them both get around me in the first turn, then ducked in behind and just "followed" them. Pretty damn glad I did>>>>

Everybody is ok.
The yellow car went over the top of the other GTA car ripping most of the right hand side off. I thought they would red flag the race. But when I came around again they were both gone......AND they both finished the race!! .....Those GTA cars have tons of HP and the bodies are cheap, so they don't mind mixing it up. Carbon fiber corvette pieces are alot more expensive...I am certainly glad I let them go by!
Main race this afternoon.....I hope its alittle calmer

As Bob said, no injuries, the GTA cars are extremely well built and
very safe. Tom Graham's crew picked up every little piece of
fiberglass and put pretty much the whole right side back together
with pop rivets, a bit of aluminum and racer tape. One of racer's
brought them a hood off a late model stock car, they cut it to fit,
worked fine. Tom Graham then led wire to wire on Sunday.
The yellow car (Kurt Roehrig), had to start mid pack, but came
back up through, even after getting spun early and finished
second in the GTA class.

Roehrig set a new V8 Stockcar GTA track record for Roebling
at 1:13.9 and change during Sat morning qualifying.

These two will go at it again at the ARRC seperated by just a few
points for the V8 SC championship in GTA.

"Bad Bob" Mayer took both V8 GT2 wins in his CrossRoads
Motorsports prepped Corvette.

I dunno....if it was me, I would rather have all that behind me (unless your lap times were so similar you'd all be running together). If that was the case, good job /:\
