Man that sucks.
I met him twice; he was the chief instructor at my first ever SCCA driver's school at Gingerman in 2003.
About three years later, while testing at Gingerman, he came up and started talking to me. He remember me from that school!
Not to be preachy or anything like that, but we all have to remember we are not gauranteed tomorrow.
That thought is probably the single most infuential thing in my life, and causes me to be the way I am and do the things I do. 41 years of age? Damn, just damn.

Wow, what horrible news!! Max is well known here in the Chicago area and would come to the club meetings for both SCCA and Midwestern Council back in the 90's. A couple of years ago I bought his first 3 gen Camaro Trans Am car, from someone one else and Max was very helpful and friendly. He even came over and checked the car over at the first test day at Blackhawk that season. Unlike a few GT1 pilots, he really knew how to drive those cars - he threw them around and drove them like he stole it.
What a shame, a great guy....
