Default Pics: New 2011 Trans Am 2 Camaro, tube frame road race

Pics of Gregg Rodgers Trans Am TA-2 Camaro. This is a GTA type chassis with the new HOWE body. Powered by LS1 (Schwanke motor I believe) Scheduled to be at Sebring TA race on March 16. This same car bodied as a Grand Prix holds the V8 StockCar track record for GTA at Barber.

We are building a similar V8 StockCar GT-1 version with LS3 for Ralph Tommaso. It will have quite a bit more power, 16" CCW wheels and GT-1 type wing.

Fiberglass or sheetmetal body? Is it a portcity chassis?

It looks great!

Fiberglass body, I think a HOWE chassis. Essentially they (ex ASA cars)
are pretty much all the same as HOWE built all the center sections and Port City and others added the front and rear clips.

I just finished helping Pancho Weaver build a new SCCA Trans Am race car. The car weight was 2462 lbs with all fluids and 6 gallons of fuel. We installed a Pro Motion Nascar 358 engine with 805 horsepower. This is the same type engine that Tony Ave used last year to win the TA series. These cars are big power and big fun to drive.

Two versions:

Euro: as in Camaro Cup (stock type width)

US: Wide body as depicted can work with GT-1 type rubber

there are different wheelbases as well 104" to 108" I think

last I heard couple weeks ago, 5 on the shelf. But they have been selling fast.

Call them 989 435 7080

Nasty looking car!

At a high level, what are the differences between Trans Am, TA2 and TA3 classes (like weight, power etc.)?

Trans Am = SCCA GT1 ie Tony Ave Corvette 2780 # chevy SB2 800 plus HP in a state of the art tube frame chassis with Hewland gear box

TA2= SCCA GTA cars tube frame 2800# about 500 hp or SCCA GT2 cars

TA3= SCCA GT-3, not one of these signed up for Sebring TA for tomorrow.
