Default TTA Questions/calculations

Being a newbie, I am trying to avoid more mistakes. While on the road this week, I read the TT 2011 rules. If I understand correctly the points for classification, then I am in TTA, (I hope).

2002 Z06 = 7 points
Nitto 305 = 8 points ( rear only)
Sway bars mod = 2 points
Exhaust mod = 2 points
K&N filter = 0 points
plugs, 8mm wires = 0 points
Total = 19 points.

The 2011 rules says 20 points is a class up grade, so with present set-up I should be TTA legal for my first event correct?

Next questions

1. Where to obtain quality numbers with TTA, 10" - 12" tall, etc.
2. How to confirm my number, Car was registered with number 10, but do I need to register for a perm.number?
3. How to register transponder number? Is it just a matter of contacting NASA?
4. Do I need two NASA stickers on the car as specified in the 2011 rules? Again, I suppose these are obtained from NASA SE?

Since I travel a lot, just trying to get an early jump in preparation for next event and first event.

Soloperf (SPS) has numbers, others do as well, I believe David Farmer (on the forum) makes them.
You can likely get teh NASA stickers at registration, at the event (per my contact w/NE regional director).
You should go w/R6 or A6 instead of the Nittos. (probably).
Blow all your points on tires, if possible. Other TTA's have a more specific idea of what that means and will chime in (I'm in TTB w/base C5 and tires and many no point mods).

Yeah it sounds like you got it. TTA would be your class.

David Farmer or Discovery Parts

2. How to confirm my number, Car was registered with number 10, but do I need to register for a perm.number?
Register with whatever number you prefer, but be prepared to change it within just a few days before the event. The NASA registrar (Julie Pantas) will email you if there is a number conflict with another driver.

3. How to register transponder number? Is it just a matter of contacting NASA?
When you register online for TT, it will require you to enter your transponder number.

4. Do I need two NASA stickers on the car as specified in the 2011 rules? Again, I suppose these are obtained from NASA SE?
NASA stickers are available at the NASA hauler or you can order them online. The 4 stickers per car is not enforced in the SE.

BTW - Let me know when you're ready to take the plunge and do some serious setup work.

True! But I made very straight cuts. Will take them and see if they can weld them back together today. The goal is to run TTA for the remainder of the year and maybe next year?

The ultimate problem is that I like adding performance enhancers to the corvette, (unlike you, I was stupid enough to sell my C3 and 99 before I learned about NASA). Now I only have one Z to play with. Somehow, I let the Ms talk me into horses. Great marriage, but they cost more.....They got the new trailer, etc. Bottom line, unless I get another car in the future, I will end up in TTS.

Thanks for the answers to my questions. I look forward to joining the C5 group. For a while, I will be your best friend by "helping add to your tire winnings"

Yes! horses and a track car, takes some serious cash flow managment! I doubt I can ever retire. But I did marry a much younger Swedish women! She acutally loves road racing. Hasn't missed an ALMS event in 8 years. Has all the drivers autographs, etc. Perhaps there is some hope yet, (trade horses for another car..?) NOT.

I could probably get the wife to part with the stock system off her 04, you may still need to take the points though. Her's is a regular coupe, not a z06
They have been in the shed for 5-6 years!

Listen the Mark, Scott and Jason. They have been sorting out the C5 in TTA forever

I cringe whenever I hear about someone taking a sawzall to a set of Ti mufflers

[QUOTE]

It's just a set of mufflers, (nice yes), but if you are willing to risk putting the car in the wall?? Anyway, it has been my experience that most corvette owners, (in clubs) change the mufflers as one of the first mods. Guess it is a sound thing, not a performance mod.

Check is in the mail, numbers bought - Julie did help this AM.

Nothing wrong with swapping mufflers, but no need to cut them off. Finding someone to re-weld Titanium properly can be difficult.

You are of course correct. I cut them off because I did not have a lift. Also did not have any contacts that have a lift. Living out in the country can have its drawbacks.

Cribbing and a jack is all you need.

Cribbing! I thought that is what some horses did, then I looked it. I guess it is possible, but I was too chicken.

The reality of the situation is this. Weld the Ti mufflers back together or put the stock intake back on. Or get placed in TTS!

Easy there. I not sure I like my mechanic whoring himself out.
