Default NASA March Madness at VIR recap thread

To make it quick, COLD weekend overall. I left early on Sunday, so all I've got is Saturday's race.

Weekend started out alright, qualified with a 2:02.x and figured it would be good enough for pole. Justin Matthews in his blue subaru came out in ST2 trim this weekend and busted out a 2:01.5. I can tell you that I was completely shocked. I know Justin's a great driver, but I never expected a time like that.

In the race I was able to outside/inside move him in T1, and then make the pass in the outside of T2, only because he's a cautious rookie and basically handed it to me. I told him NEVER to give up his line that easily again. From there I ran like a frightened cat and got pinched off a few times near the end. Luckily my car has an incredible amount of traction w/ 2 tires in the dirt.

Oh, and the ST2 record is now mine. Take that Blue cars!!

Brian had a great weekend too! Mr. TTA lap record. Mac also ran a 2:06 which I think is his personal best! Ryan is inching closer each weekend, and I really regret going over data with him... I'm pretty sure he'll be in the 2-flat range next time out.

There comes a time when you stop being as friendly and sharing so much information with each other

Way to go Wally, great driving! So who had the ST2 record before you?

Looks like the Corvette gang did quite well there, congrats to all.

Nice job Wally.....sorry that you were sick.

The Blue car(s) will retaliate some time soon dont you worry. The TTS and ST2 records were set in '09 with yesteryears technologies on a very ,very green track . The ST2 record was set in running defensive lines to keep the uber-power SU cars behind....

We will probably be out there in the big heat of July, but will plan on going back in the better track conditions of October.

Come up in July... I'll bring a pool this time... or maybe one of those mist sprayers that the NFL uses

Actually as I sit typing this it's flurrying here at the beach... it's almost April and I'm watching snow fall... so maybe we'll have a more mild summer.

I will have to post up your pass turn 1-3...it was nicely done and a great view from my seat!

I am going to take my car in to get re-tuned...when I got home, just taking it off the trailer it spit out fuel on the ground...running rich is an understatement at this point.

Wally,

Nice work!

Had I been there, I would have cleaned you're windshield before the start!

Way to kick sleeping dogs like Danny and Ken, I'm sure that won't incite anybody!

Mike
