Default Just got dyno'd and guess what.

I've been running 20hp down!!!

I've been running at a min weight of 3200, but typically 3270 to be safe for the dyno... Just dynod this morning w/ a max of 350... Time to pull some weight

This bodes well for me.

How many years has that LS6 been raced now... 6+ or there abouts right? How many miles are on it now?

You've got longtubes and an air intake right? If so you're about 30-35 horse down on a fresh one with intake, headers, tune.

Still pretty awesome to see the motor working given the high rpm beating you subject it to.

The motor was put in for the 05 runoffs before I bought it. I think a tune would bring it back up to the 370 mark... Just have to decide whether I want to go that route or ditch more weight.

So 6 years baby... that's great. So you're on the factory tune? but have LTs etc? If so, then yeah you probably have at least 15 horse on the table. Plus I'm not sure if you run 93 or 100, but if you run 100 and tune for it you can make even more.

Just make sure your tuner is a good road race tuner... too many people get these cars tuned with a tailpipe sniffer, then destroy #7 cylinder from going lean.

no no, it has a tune, or rather a "detune" to make it work w/ 93 and keep the HP at 365 and flat. That was done about 4 years ago.

That's just flat out embarrassing for an LS6 - especially for one with headers.
No wonder Justin ran off from you when the green dropped.

Well lets see...............
I hold the Road Atlanta SCCA STO track record: 1.29.016
You hold the Road Atlanta NASA TTS track record: 1.29.620

SCCA only counts laps during a race for towards a track record.
My fastest qualifying lap is a 1:28.414, the fastest STO qualifying lap at Road Atlanta is Jerry Onks at 1:28.1.

So......I'd say when you get that extra 20rwhp back ( ) you should be right there>>>>don;t ya think?!!!!

I'm not in the habit of taking knives to gunfights.

I'm going to dyno at Mid O on friday next week to verify this result. Then I'll decide what to do.

6 yrs is about exactly how long James' motor survived in this atmosphere before it broke 3 rods at RA...suprising how tore up that motor was for nothing leaving the block.

Horsepower does seem low Wally....Have you ever put a new set of valve springs in that thing ??...might help some, if that is what you want to do...probably wouldn't hurt to put a new timing chain in it too...

Look forward to seeing you next weekend @ Mid-Ohio. At least one blue car should be there.....(not mine)

Yeah I'd do a fresh LS2 chain and new springs at a minimum. In prepping my 120k motor last summer I did new OEM springs, LS2 chain, and a LS4 high volume pump. I also swapped the valve seals when doing the springs.

You can get the OEM yellow springs (2002-2004 Z06) for around $60 a set and last I checked a LS2 timing chain was like $38 and it's a good bit beefier than the LS6 chain.

The only thing I'd like to change that I haven't is the lifters.... don't care to pull the heads, but will probably do that this coming winter...

@Danny - Any issues replacing lifters on a 121K mile motor if not putting in a new cam? I know some people swear a cam/lifters become a matched set, but I don't see how that could really be the place as lifters do go bad from time to time.
