Default New!!!! and looking for ideas for a track car!!!

Hi guys,

My dad and I are thinking about getting another vette strictly for track duty (a car that the paint and what not would not matter to us). I have a 2000 coupe and my dad has an 08 wil cooksey Z06. We are going to track our cars a little but are thinking about getting a car for just track duty so that way we have a car just to beat on.

My thoughts are a C5 coupe or Z06 and put a dewitts radiator, pfadt sways and shocks and some nice sticky tires to start. Then down the line do head cam package or something along those lines keeping it NA.

Any opinions on what kind of car and how to set it up for the road course would be greatly appreciated.

We are not new to vettes and the mods on my 2000 coupe are in my sig.

Thanks
Rob

Just keep your eye out, there are track only cars on here fairly often and it will save you a lot of money over trying to do it all yourself.

If you're looking for a track car, building one or buying one, spend your money first and foremost on a cage and be safe!

C5 Z06 built to TTA specs.... pretty much a spec Z06 class. Everyone says buy vs. build, but if you can do your own work you can build about as cheap as you can buy (usually cheaper) and you'll have a perfect car built to your specs and you won't have to fix anyone else's problms.

I have a buddy with a C5 Z06 track/street car for sale here in the Houston area. It has a roll bar and the engine is a nice head and cam package. Let me know if interested. Sorry I don't know how much he's asking for it.

dewitts radiator, good idea add oil cooler & accu-ump, trans cooler and diff cooler.
pfadt sways and shocks and Better suspension is good
some nice sticky tires to start. to start? maybe not but some Nitto 05s would be good
Then down the line do head cam package out of the question. Keep the LS6 stock but a CAI and a great tune

What's your plan down the road? Figure out what you want to do after hpde gets old and work backwards. That way you end up with a car already setup for tt or racing

Ok thanks I don't think we will be buying this soon though. I will talk with my dad about it.

I set up my 2001 C5Z for TTA after talking with lots of people. The C5Z has plenty of power so engine modifications aren't required. You'll save a lot of money by picking a target and working backwards from it.

Contact Phoenix and get a used C5Z T1 car. It will have EVERYTHING you will need (now or later). For dedicated track vette, that is the way to go!

You will spend less money overall and there is nothing to mod at that point and you can always take it racing one day if desired.
