new spec clutch holds fine ,but you can't change gears when the engine is wound up,will go to neutral, then in to the next gear after the rpm drops way down...they say air in the line,,there ain't air in the line..now what??

Very common problem that we designed our Adjustable Master Cylinder Kit to fix. Read our FAQ here for more information: http://www.tick-performance.com/tick...aulics/#master

You need a tick adjustable master cylinder with those spec clutches. It fixed the special 2 + in my c5z.

I'm guessing you installed the supplied shim?
What's your release like at idle?
Does it engage a just a few inches from the floor?

Classic case of crappy Spec design/quality. You need an adjustable Tick clutch master cyl. Would have been nice if you would have known that before huh?
I know when I dropped a thousand bucks on my Spec that I was not expecting to spend another three hundred to make it work properly.

Wow. I may have been suffering from this issue since 2006 and not even known this was the cause.

Spec clutch, never been able to shift from 2nd to 3rd at full throttle.

Heck I had my transmission rebuilt in pursuit of a solution.

I fled spec for these issues years ago. They told me I was installing wrong. I replace with another brand shifts great. I have not had to shim or replace a master since. Real fun when you install 3 in a week & they all do it . Business comes to a hault. I have rebuilt some transmissions for people as a result of incomplete spec release. Its a centrifugal issue with the pressure plate according to there competitors. Early version of RPS twin did this they owned up, redesigned plate & shifts like a dream at rpm. Curious if John is using 1 of the newer twin discs?

What clutches (other than the tiltons/quartermasters) have you guys had good luck with? I have a new spec, engagement is a little low (properly measured the distances during install per the spec video), hoping the high-rpm shifts are ok this weekend.

Be prepared to have to put in a new clutch MC. You'll likely have trouble shhifting at high rpm, just don't destroy your tranny because of it.

the rps twin I had in the car put up with me for 2 seasons,I'm pretty hard on parts so that says a lot..plus it was rebuildable..could shift it really quick..I have an rpm built trans, but with the spec,,just won't go into the next gear till the revs come down...i'll have to be carefull with it this weekend at the autocross at nashville speedway...
