Default What's the gold box behind the gauge cluster support?

What's the gold box do? I'm pretty familiar with these cars and know what everything else is.

My guesses:

1. Airbag/SRS control module

2. Soemthing to do with the gauge cluster/IP

3. Something to do with the drive-by-wire throttle setup

If it's airbag related can I remove it since the airbags are long gone?

You serious? That gold box looking all important is for the freaking sound system?

I'm shooting to make the car as light as possible... I'll be adding the cage, nets, fire system, cool-shirt system etc. so I'd like to be at or below min comp weight even with those items.

IMO lighter = better for these cars... makes the hubs and brake work better than they normally do

If you are running ST2 in the NE then leave it in! Anywhere else I would take it out since it provides no value to a race car.

Cool.... it'll be gone tonight. I had no idea what it was, but now that I do it's going in the parts pile.

Sometime this year you need to make it up to one of the races at NJMP. It shouldn't be that long of a haul from you. Let me know ahead of time and we'll get you setup.

Cool deal... I'll check the schedule. As of right now my goal is to have the car caged and ready for RA in June, then VIR in July, then who knows.

It is extremely sensitive and valuable. He should encase it in lead to protect it from Japanese radiation. The more lead the better!

Oh that's right, I forgot he has one of those cars with that "extra" part. Gary's right, wrap that thing in about 15 layers of lead to keep it protected! Those parts are VERY rare!

Nope... definately has a BOSE sticker on it. It's on the left side by the pedals so it's hard to see until you're up under there.
