Default Help with Phoenix Tow Hook Install - front / z06-gs

Got the fascia/nose off for a ZR1 splitter install.

Took the styrofoam off.

However, is this something new they've put inside the front frame rail where you have to put the nut to mount the tow hook base or is this removeable? Never heard about it when reading about installs.

Gotta get in there to put the nuts on the bolts somehow!?

THanks!

The corragated piece is spot welded in. You'll have to knock it out.

I found that same metal piece in my '08 when I added the front tow hook. I called Jeff at Phoenix and he told me to just prey /knock it out....which I did. It comes out pretty easily. If I remember correctly...there may be two that need to be removed.

Instead of knocking out the stiffener how about putting in a blind nut. You would probably have to drill out the hole but after that it's simply insert and set with the tool.

Just a thought.

Drill hole in front big enough to drop the nut through and hold with a wrench. My buddy and I did it and he actually put his to use a few weeks ago. Worked like a champ.

Thanks for the help guys, I just knocked the spot welds out and then bent the piece back down after installing. It's sandwiched in their vertically, so I don't think the spot weld is THAT important.
