[VIDEO] VIR Full with the Audi Club
Here's a little video from the Audi club event at VIR this week. This was a really good group and in this session I wanted to stay behind a watch a couple of the faster drivers to watch and learn.
The red Porsche is a 997 GT3 and the white Porsche is a 997 GT2 driven by the head instructor. Some of you may recognize Joe in his largely stock C6 as he comes motoring by.
I was really glad that traffic and my horsepower advantage allowed me to keep catching up to these guys so I could continue to learn. Joe also clearly demonstrates that the biggest bang for the buck go-fast mod is that nut behind the steering wheel.
BTW, things get interesting for the GT3 just after the 3 min mark.

What tires are you using?
Nice rhythm in the uphill esses, do you know your speed?

Hoosier R6, factory sizes. I usually slowed to somewhere between 105-110 entering the esses and am probably coming out around 100. I'm sure that's one place I could carry more speed but am working my way up slowly.

Given that I have coilovers, a BBK, and probably an extra 150HP is just goes to show you what a difference the driver makes.

Nice video. Very smooth. Are you in a C6 z06 or zr1?

Nice driving Sean! I'm getting wired for the Track Daze VIR Full event April 23-24. I just got done installing the Katech spoiler, splitter, brake ducts and undertray. I hope all this carbon fiber doesn't slow me down too much.
See ya at NCM VIR.

It was a good couple days by a good club! It was my first event with a vette, and had a blast!
Sean, my friend jeff with the camera got a few shots of you, this one had two of the best looking cars there in it!

Thanks for posting Sean and good driving! With no Track Attack this year for my annual east coast trip I have signed up to instruct at the VIR NCM event instead. Always good to see another at speed perspective before going to a new track.
Not sure what I'll be driving yet...

Nice smooth driving.... interesting to see you take the esses and southbend in 3rd and then wait to make the downshift until just before the turn-in to Oak Tree. In a C5Z you're in 4th through there and I've always downshifted to 3rd in the uphill brake zone just before 11.
Might be faster to stay in 4th through 11 and make the downshift to 3rd just before Oak Tree... may try that next time out since you don't accelerate much from 11 to 12 and the downshift is easier to make before 12.
Nice to see the Katech Z pulling up on a 997 GT2 like that

Thanks everyone, I still have lots of room for improvement on my part but the car definitely makes me look better than I am. It kind of reminds me of that 80's show "Greatest American Hero" if anyone gets the reference
Dean - look forward to seeing you at the NCM event.
Derek - you should definitely fly in. We almost have enough people to call it the unofficial TA11
