LS1 Stock Car wins overall at Daytona SCCA 5/7
Young Bobby Kennedy, son of Long time IMSA Camel GT and Grand Am racer Squeak Kennedy, took the overall win in the GT group this afternoon at Daytona International Speedway driving the BEMCO FAB/V8StockCar.com Monte Carlo. Kennedy out dueled Brian Goldburg in his high HP Panoz GTS SPO class car. Kennedy led most of the twenty minute sprint, but was passed by Goldburg with two to go. Kennedy refused to let Goldburg get away however and re-passed the Panoz a lap later.
Kennedy's car is powered by a Schwanke Racing Engines carbureted LS1
Despite making less than 500 Flywheel HP the Monte Carlo outran GT's with 200-300 more HP.
Kennedy cut the race fast lap at 1:58.027
Ray Webb took third in an ex Ryan Newman Dodge Charger with Mike Kern fourth in his ex Camel GT Derhaag type GT-1 Camaro.
Twenty seven GT1's, SPO, GTA's, and AS started the race.

Bobby Kennedy again won overall in the BEMCO stock car on sunday at Daytona. Bobby cut a 1:57.1 lap, brreaking his own class record. This is fantastic speed from a 5.7 liter LS1. These motors are incredible road racing mills. Brian Goldburg was again second in his 427 ci small block Ford Panoz.
