Default Need Help, Heat Issue?

I pulled my rear rotors off to inspect while replacing pads. I have this on both sides. Are these the dust boots for the tie rods? I have heat shields on the front from my Quantum brake cooling kit. But I haven't seen anything available for the rears. I am assuming this is from the heat of the rear brakes. How do I fix/replace?

Yes those are the tie rod boots. You can order new rear heavy duty ones from Ecklers (39964 Tie Rod End Rear Otr HP,97-04). They are fairly simple to replace but its easy to knock your alignment out (toe, thrust) so best to get it realigned afterwards. For future protection wrap them in heat tape or fab up your own heat deflectors.

I have an 2008. Same part works for C6? What kind of heat tape would you recommend?
