Anyone going to the 24 Hours Le Mans ??? I'll be there!!!
I'm almost going...just waiting to see if my passport comes back in
time.
And if I don't go I'm buying a set of CCW C14's for my track car....
Airfare is not too bad, its actually come down in the past week.
time.

Melting Slicks
I was in the garage/pit stall in a firesuit doing tire data, temps & pressures for the week. Stayed at a cool old chateau for the week too.
The Corvette stalls were just a few away from ours so during practice week I had some time to roam over and say hi to the guys.
A trip I will never forget, I took like 600 pictures and stayed up for 48 hours straight to make sure I didn't miss anything.
Here's a couple pictures.

I went in 2006. Awesome. I saw/heard the Aston blow its clutch, quite a thrill seeing the C6R win. Definitely be prepared for minimal sleep - it gets dark very late and sunrise is early. And you'll likely be pretty excited and won't want to miss anything anyway.

I only have gotten my passport processing number so far.
I will call in next Tuesday and tell them I am 7 days out from traveling
to see if they can get it done in time, I'm just going to squeak in under
the 2-3 week processing time.
And airfare just jumped $200......

Yes I'm going back this year, was there last year with my son. This year bringing 20 NCM members there including touring in Paris and Loire Valley as well as 3 days of Le Mans.

Well I pulled the trigger and made my airline reservation.
I called the passport processing number, supposidly they
take into consideration my travel date which I put down
next Wednesday, so to give me one more day I booked Thursday.
If all else fails it will cost me $250 to cancle and I will have
$900 credit with American Airlines for a year.
I just wanted to make sure I had a flight, only 10 seats
left on the outbound.

1. Bring something soft to rest your head on to catch a few hours of sleep before dawn
2. Bring a decent amt of Euros to the track, they go quickly and ATM lines are long
3. Bring a radio to listen to the broadcast (or buy an earpiece radio at the track)
4. Bring suitable walking shoes, although much of the track is closed off, you will still walk a bit
5. Get a lot of sleep the night before
6. Check the train schedule well ahead of time so you don't miss the start! The non-bullet train takes a bit longer.
7. Bring food/water with you, if possible. It was scorching sunny/hot when I was there (and kind of chilly at night).
8. Bring rain gear. It always rains at Le Mans (except when I was there).
9. There is tons of great viewing w/o grandstand tix, S/F area is boring anyway.
10. Earplugs. They aren't all turbo diesels.

Yes checked the train schedule, looks like i will be going down there
straight from the airport Friday, no early morning trains from CDG on Saturday.
Its going to rain, just checked the weather, and in the 40's at night....
Bringing a sleeping bag and tent....
Bought a nice pair of shoes and breaking them in past couple days.
And sure am glad I booked my flight last week.... and finally got my passport....
Head back to Paris after the race.
Was thinking about going to Normandy on Monday...
I leave Tuesday morning to come back home...
