Default Anyone run at Mid-America Motoplex in Pacific Junction, Iowa?

Just moved to KC Missouri, and have driven by MAM in Iowa a few times visiting relatives. Looking for some first hand impressions of the place. I've scanned their website, and their test & tune Fridays look interesting. Anybody run there before and can give me their thoughts?

TIA

I run there a lot since it is the closest track to Sioux Falls. Fast Friday's is an economical way to get in a lot of track time for little $. You can also rent a transponder to record your lap times for an additional $10. The track itself is in good shape and is fairly challenging. There is a lot of runoff area so off-track excursions usually result in no damage to your car . The only downfall to the track is the paddock area. The asphalt is broken up and It is in desperate need of re-surfacing.

Ran there in OLOA - not a bad track for a flat track.

As mentioned previously, very safe track to run on if you want to really hang it out. Some interesting lines to learn, get some help from some experienced MAM track people, some of the lines are not obvious.

I've run there many times. Track flows very nicely with main straight speed over 140 in a stock C6 Z06. Several very nice combo corners and it is very safe. Flow much better than Autobahn imho.

good bang for the buck and also keep an eye on www.findtheline.com they have track days there where you can run all day for $150 til you are sick of it since pretty much open track all day!

hope the flooding missouri river doesnt over take it or might really go insane this year!

Thanks for the replies, guys. I appreciate it. While looking at the website it mentions an orientation class for $175. Is this (hopefully) optional? I've been doing track stuff for years, and I would certainly prefer to use that money for gas, oil, and brake pads instead.

Thanks again.

I've heard from a few local SCCA people MAM is expecting to be under 6'-10' of water and to be closed for some time. Hopefully this isn't the case. The news says Pacific Junction is looking at being 2'-10' under water. There was talk the work BNSF is doing on the RR tracks may cut down on some of the flooding though. http://www.ketv.com/missouri-river-f...80/detail.html The John Deer building up the street has at least a 15’ berm around it already.

It is a pretty fun track and like others have said runoff friendly for the most part although I've been lucky enough not to experience that in the vette...yet.

A little bit more of a drive but you might also check out Motorsports Park Hastings. It's run pretty similar to MAM and is like a big autox course. http://www.racemph.com/
