Drive on the open road, at highway speed, in 5th or 6th gear. Keep a steady speed and depress the clutch while still on the throttle. The rpms should immediately jump up. Then let go of clutch and watch tach. The rpms should immediatey fall. (Do not lift throttle during the entire exercise) If they don't you have clutch slip. This is not as good as a visual inspection and measurement, but it's free and stupid simple.
