Default safety

I'm looking at getting an enclosed helment along with a head and neck device. Any recommendations?

Thanks

HANS & Bell or Simpson. Then you need something for the HANS to work with properly like bar and seat. There are other option where you can just use your stock seat. Others are more familiar with that option.

I have a Corbeau FX1 seat, 5 point harness, and a good roll bar. Was looking at HJC helment but was not sure if the were other options than a HANS device.

I just purchased a nice Impact 1320 full face helmet. Good price (just under $300) and a nice helmet. The race shop owner said he hasn't sold a Simpson since this one became available.

Bell helmets are the way to go if you're looking for something under the $1K range. If you don't have a price limit, get an Arai GP6, Stand 21 Ivos, Bell HP3 or a Stilo. I have an Arai GP6-RC and love it, really light weight and great build quality. I agree with what others have said, stay away from the helmets made in China and Vietnam.

How bout this?

http://soloracer.com/pyrotectproair.html

Looking at H&N devices I'd say HANS is the best option?

Thanks

I don't know much about pyrotech's... sorry.

Here is a good bell helmet for around the same price if you want to check it out. I would stick with a larger brand name company, not saying pyrotech isn't a good helmet or anything. The advantage of Bell is that you can find shields and parts for them pretty much anywhere, so you can shop around for a better deal .

As far as a head and neck device, I'd go with a HANS. There is a reason the HANS is mandated in every professional series in the world

PyroTech helmets are made in Bend Oregon. Some of their helmets require the HANS mounting clips to be installed as an extra cost option.

As far as shields, I believe the Bell shields work on the PyroTech helmet. They have tinted shields just like Bell.

HANS is great, but you need a harness setup. You say you have a harness, but......do you instruct????

If you are over in the right seat in a car with just the stock belt system, the HANS won't work - but there is a device that will.

Check out this solution:

I just run the OE seat belt, so I use an R3 Rage and it's very nice!!!!

I sometimes ride with others but I'm not near good enough to be an instructor. Most of the cars I ride in have full racing set ups but some don’t.

On the HANS device, there are two types one being much lighter. Has anyone had the opportunity to try both? Is the lighter unit that much better?

Thanks

Lots of helmet choices....I use a Bell helmet with the larger eyeport (that I prefer). HANS is your best choice for a head/neck restaint. IMO the heavier (less expensive) model is just fine. There are many sources but I like Saferacer or Hoerr Racing Products...HRPWorld.
