Zeronine helmet?
I'm new tothe autocross world and beginning my research in harnesses and helmets. I came across this product and want your opinions before I lookany harder. Ran a search for "Zeronine" and didn't come up with anything useful.
Zeronine Z9-AKR BlackOps Carbon Fiber Helmet
Found at this website:
http://www.saferacer.com/zeronine-z9...productid=2156
I read some reviews and it appears to be a descent helmet for the price, but not as light as other carbon fiber helmets - it may be more for looks than anything else.
Does anybody have any history or experience with this helmet? It's Snell 2005 certified and costs $349. Any other full face options in the $400 and under category?
Thanks for any advice,
Sean

It says Snell SA2005 on the back of the helmet. I would think that they could not do that without a Snell sticker on the inside. It may be legit, but I still think you would be better off with the latest current Snell certification.

Snell-certified helmets will have an orange sticker on the inside of the helmet and will show "SA2010" and a serial number. There are still some SA2005 helmets out there and you can find good deals, but the SA2005 helmets have the same type of sticker inside.
The Snell sticker in my SA2010 Pyrotech helmet also has a UPC barcode that shows a serial number.
IMHO, "Snazzy" or cool-looking is not a requirement for a helmet. It's sole purpose is to protect your head in case of a crash. You can get excellent helmets from Simpson, Bell, G-Force, and Pyrotech for autocross use.
While carbon fiber is nice and light, most autocross runs won't have you in the car for very long, usually in the area of 60 seconds or so. Track days will be different as you can be out on course for anywhere from 20 minutes to hours....
Edit: Just found this review of the Zeronine Z9-APX helmet. This one is a SA2010 helmet and it looks like a favorable review. HANS capable and Nomex liner. More of a traditional design for motorsports but it's the same price as the one you are considering and a SA2010 rating.

Thanks for all the input guys. Just finished my first track day today - AWSOME!!! I can't wait to get back out there. A few things I need before I go back out include my own helmet (had to borrow one today), brake pads, brake duct cooling, gloves, harness bar, 6 point harness... List never stops!
I will give the forum vendors a shot and research the options that are listed above.
