Selling advert space on your car, prices?
I know this is all over the place, depending on race series, results, etc etc.
I have a local San Diego wide business interested in having their name on my car for about 30 local events a year, SCCA autox, BMWCCA, maybe a PCA event or two, a few track days.
So give me some ball park rates.
Hood/fenders/sizes of letters whatever.
I have no clue.

I don't know of anyone who actually gets paid... most people put the stickers of companies that support their race series and/or the vendors they buy parts from because they ususally pass on a discount.
Most of the cars I see that look fully "sponsored" are actually being driven by the company owner. I.e. they "sponsor" their own car

All of the above. I have a plating sponsor that does plating for little to nothing. A gear shop sponsor that does the same. A suspension sponsor....same.
Actually, I take that back, BEFORE the economy took a dump, the plating guy paid me $200/race. That is it....sigh...

The party interested is not motorsports related so it would be $$ per season I guess. I have no idea what to ask, I guess a set of a6's would be nice (say $1500)?
Both rear fenders 3 or 4 inch letters, whatever will fit?

Start high! Always easier to come down than it is to go up. At least a few grand..
Call a billboard company and ask how much they charge for a billboard ad. They probably have ranges based on location. Call the tracks you race at and find out what they charge to advertise there. does this place advertise now and if so where and what do they charge...
I would give thema price range - $x for fenders to $x for the whole car..

I guess the better question is what is it worth to the sponsor to put his name on your car rather than my car? That means what is it that YOU are going to do for the sponsor to give him a return on his $$.
It isn't a matter of what you can get ... it is what do you really have to offer in return. An odd concept isn't it?

You need to demonstrate that your car will reach their audience. Press releases, charity shows where your car will be displayed, local parades, etc. Find a speed shop and offer to park it out front to bring in the kids. They will stop to look at your cool race car, and 1 in 10 will buy some neon for their Neon.
It's doubtful that many of your sponsors' customers are watching your races. Get the car "out there" and then they might be willing to talk.

Call me. I have some experience with this. For the past two years every sticker on my car was paid or compensated according to a rate schedule I use.
