Bathurst 1000 Austrailian V8 Supercar Race on SPEED but not IMSA
hard for me to believe anybody can put up the money to get the AV8 race on TV, and IMSA not finding it worth doing so with their own races. I don't know if SPEED is putting the money up themselves or what, but it shouldn't be easier to watch a race from down-under than from down-south at Rd Atlanta.
Anyway, I'm slowly trudging through both ALMS Laguna and Petit LeMans on my streaming setup, but I'll be able to DVR right through the Bathurst race this weekend.
btw, I'm soooooo tired of seeing the same 6 commercials on ESPN3's ALMS coverage (Corvette, Michelin, Porsche, Petron, G Oil, and some web hosting company)

Speed = Fox = Murdoch = Australia.
Just a theory
I *was* looking forward to watching the Bathurst race until Speed (proudly, no less) announced that they were sending Darrell Waltrip to do the announcing. Yeah, I'm gonna subject myself to 6 hours of that. Not.

I don't mind DW that much (I know, makes me a big target for a lot of you), and I am definitely looking forward to watching this race. This series is awesome!

Bathurst is one of the greatest races and an amazing track! I'd rather watch that anytime over ALMS. The cars are amazing in ALMS, but the car counts per class are too small.

The balance sheets of Aussie V8 and ALMS surely differ by a large number of zeros.
Racing is a bit closer as well. And guaranteed to include carnage, which always draws a crowd.

I've been watching all the V8 super car events I can over the last couple of years. I prefer them over the majority of racing you see on TV. I wish they'd keep the Aussie hosts for this weekend.
Look at the push of that car, oh yeah they can turn right

but don't you wonder who is paying for it??? It will be interesting to see who advertises during the show.
I'll be drinking Patron, swapping to G-oil in my new Porsche and Vette, and obviously getting a new set of Michelins (which will last forever of course) while I watch the show!

You'd think, wouldn't you? But they've been trying since 1999 and the ALMS is still there. Even with the underlying power of NASCAR they haven't been able to "win" to date. There must be something more fundamental at work that's keeping it from happening.
The average road racing fan is a bit more discriminating than the average NASCAR fan. True spec racing is inherently uninteresting. Spec cars that are up to 10 seconds per lap slower than the competitor's top category *and* all look identical (and ugly) are even less interesting. Grand-Am (Rolex, actually) is technically dull as dirt and successful high end road racing has always had a higher degree of technical interest in play.
Anyway, this is off topic...

I agree the Grand Am cars are as "dull as dirt", but the racing is blowing IMSA off the track. If they can't get the car counts up (NOT by adding new amateur and spec classes) they will continue to fade and fade IMO

Can't be any worse than ten hours of two limeys going at each other.
