Do you need coil overs with a wing?
Thinking of putting a wing and 4 inch front splitter on my C5. T1 suspension right now. Planning the cage install next month and was wondering if I heard correctly that the monoleaf doesn't like a bunch of down force. True, false? Anybody running a wing and splitter with a T1 kit?

run a splitter and wing on the c4 lots of downforce...you can even see it in the tire wear temps. cross springs no problem.. i cant imagine it would hurt the c5 i think it would benefit greatly from one...it would keep the suspention closer to its "sweet spot" the most important thing to remember when doing airo is its not brain surgury!!! shure you can beat your self up trying to get the perfect ballance of downforce and drag...just hold your hand out the window at 50 hold it flat...now angle the front down it will dive down more than back....just go by results not what anybody tells you...your lap times will tell what works its trail and error.....if i had a buck for every time i heard that cant or dosent work i got fed up and said your right it dosent!!!!!

I can only comment on 1 race track that has some decent high speed straights and one real downforce corner...the carousel at Road America.
my buddies Z06 has a big rear wing, cam, and headers. My Z06 does not and I can pull him(drafting) down the straights and follow him nose to tail in the carousel.
I think the big wings look cool but I can't say they offer much performance advantage...if now a performance negative for speed

Just ask the guys that can run under 2 mins at VIR in ST2 cars that have aero... it works. Using the T1 suspension will work with aero, but its not optimal. I had considered going with a wing and splitter this year since my car already has the T1 suspension, but I've decided to hold off till I can get stiffer springs and revalve my shocks before I put the aero on.

Your comparison here does bring up a good point that Gary N. should consider before investing in aero pieces, and possibly stiffer suspension, and possibly ________ , and possibly ________.
As GoldenEagle states, it is obvious that aero improves the performance of our cars. What may not be so obvious when one is starting down this path, is the amount of knowledge, time, and money required for development. To your point, simply bolting a big wing on the rear of a car virtually ALWAYS makes it go SLOWER.
So, one must decide if looks are the goal, or is it actual speed.
When racing, like with any of the other components on the car, aero devices need to be integrated into the package, and their trade-offs completely understood. This typically requires extensive "testing" - a poison word for most on this forum.
I suppose the point is, if one is to go fast, be prepared for a long journey.

T1 with Aero you Describe
Been there and done that exact same thing.
T1 (shock/springs) will bottom out the front end on braking and will rub in the rear upon exit. I ran it as several tracks before i said enough. It was plenty fast and grippy and I didn't feel unsafe with it, just couldn't handle the extreme ends...going deep and coming out fast!
I'm running the LG C/O setup now. I think about 700lb front and 600 rear. Those rates i would say are a minimum.
As for leaf springs, Danny Popp runs leafs just fine! I believe he runs something like 900 or 1000 lb springs. They are crazy stiff but he likes that.
