Preview: V8 StockCar at the ARRC by GrassRoots Motorsports Magazine
The Group 2 (V8GT1, V8SPO & V8 GTA) Race is now up to 25 entries with several more expected.
The PORTERFIELD ENTERPRISES V8 GT-1 battle features Simon Gregg in his Derhaag Motorsports Corvette, Dave Machavern in the Heritage Automotive Group, Ford Falcon, SARRC Champ Zach Monette in his Mustang along with Sis Paige Monette Alexander (Corvette) and Dad Bob in his Mustang. Mike Kelly will be in another OPTECH MONETTE ride, a 2001 Corvette. Ray Webb will be on hand in ex Ryan Newman Dodge Charger sponsored by KENCO Signs and road racing icon Gene Felton will be shoeing his fast Nova, a re-creation of his ex IMSA championship car.
George Prentice will bring out his Winged Monte Carlo sponsored by Corvette Concepts/Strange Brew. Don Snyder compete's in his Plantation Acres Monte Carlo
Machavern, once again leads the points over Webb.
Should be a great race in HOWE RACING V8 GTA with last years ARRC and V8SC champ Kurt Roehrig on hand being challenged by Randy Walker, this years points leader, young fast guy Cameron Lawrence in the Regal Boats Impala, Ricky Sanders in the PitBoxes.com Monte Carlo, Road Atlanta veteran Preston Fowler in the FAST Racing Pontiac Grand Prix. Geoff Fane will contest in his GFR Industries Monte Carlo as well as Prospect, Tennessee's Robbie Boyette in the Clark Electric Monte Carlo. VIR double winner Rob Morris will be in his RLM Racing Monte Carlo. Alto, Goergia's Randy Haney will pilot the Victory Signs Monte Carlo.
Roehrig holds the V8SC track record and Sanders and Lawrence finished second and third respectively in the Trans Am 2 race at Road Atlanta.
In PITBOXES.COM V8 SPO, points leader Paul Breehne plans to debut his new 2011 Mustang with its' Roush Yates power. Lee Arnold will bring out his familiar black #0 Late model and Randy Gay will debut his new late model sponsored by Salon Surreal Augusta. Dacula, Georgia's Kyle Shields will be in the Shields Consulting Monte Carlo. St Petersburg, Florida's Mary Wright will be in the Competition 101 Ford Fusion. Breehne leads in points and should bring home his first V8 StockCar championship.
In our LG MOTORSPORTS V8 GT2 class for SCCA STO, GT2, ITO, T1 types, look for the Corvette's of Bob Mayer, Chris Ingle and Ed Lewis to be at the pointy end of the field. Mayer, from Duluth, GA is the defending two time champion who sits in second place in the points this year to Florida's Bill McGavic. McGavic is not yet entered. If McGavic doesn't show and Mayer gets a decent finish he will once again reign as champ.
Road Atlanta fast guy Chris Ingle, who beat Mayer for the overall win a couple years ago in a thrilling finish, hasn't raced much this year but we are absolutely sure he hasn't forgot how to do this. Ingle has converted his T1 Corvette to STO spec.
Lewis in his CrossRoads Motorsports Corvette ran his fastest laps ever at Roebling during the SIC weekend and seems to have found something. Roswell , Georgia's Jeff Dernehl could surprise in his very quick tube frame RX7.

Bob Mayer has a good shot at his third Championship ring. Bob, I promise It will be the 2011 Version
