Default Question about gmpp estimate for repair

Car is in a non dealer/independent shop for engine oil leak. The gmpp inspector approved the repair but will only pay about 1/2 the hours that the shop estimates it will take to do the job.

Do I have to go "shopping around" to find a repair shop that will do it for less?

Do I have any other recourse?

Thanks.

It's a front engine cover gasket & upper oil pan gasket.

Appraiser says 6 hrs @$95 and the shop says 12 hours same rate.

Update,

There was a misunderstanding between the appraiser & the shop, the allowed claim is about double what the shop originally thought.

I hope the mechanical goes smoother than the paper work.

I had to call the adjuster & sort it out.

feh
