Any Vendor like to built NASA ST2 Motors ?
Seems like a well built 430 fwhp / 370 rwhp LS6 or LS2 motor would be a good option for many guys.
LS6 blocks are almost if not history but LS2 engines with 243 or 799 heads, light wt valves, better valves springs.
Accu-sump or Dry sump Ready.
No real fancy parts just good solid reliable parts and build.
Could be a market ( hint hint )
IF LPE can build ASA engines . . .

with a close ratio box, it won't matter THAT much IMHO. The min RPM the engine sees will be much higher than our crappy boxes, and it would be in the range that you'd be pulling the throttle blade back on a big motor anyway.

LS6 with 15k track miles= +5 MPH on the back straight vs brand new Crate LS6 engine. or maybe it was do to the fact we bounced the car off a concrete wall

If you would be kind enough to provide specifications for the motor you want I will pass it along to a machine shop/engine builder that I consult for. Perhaps he'll take you up on the suggestion to build some. He is a stand-up guy. He has built very reliable LS motors for a local drift car racer. His car is Blu808, google him to check him out if you like.
Thank you.

We know the Approx HP and TQ levels desired.
RWHP is limited to HP:WT ratio of the Race class. 8.7:1
The base wt of the car is 3250 lbs with driver and fuel after a race.
Then build the motor to suit.
SO General thoughts are:
Lots of torque early on the curve from 2200 rpms on
7000 rpm ( maybe 7200 depending on parts) redline
LS6 block or LS2 block.
243 heads. Light wt valves ( Hollow and Sodium) SS valves are also not lasting for high RPM use.
Great Beehive springs ( double springs may have too much seat pressure )
LS6 Intake with a PP 75mm TB.
Coated bearings
Light wt but not overly expensive rotating assembly
Set up for Dry sump or Accu-sump.
Beyond that I can not say Use this Crank or that piston. Many great ones on the market.
Or use Cam X or Cam Y.
We do know that the LS3 block without the dry sump may not be the best option
or the LS3 block with dry sump may produce too much HP.
We know there are many great heads and Cams on the market and produce lots of HP. But again may be Too much HP for the race class.
For example:
Trick Flow 215 heads and right cam or AFR 210 heads and the right cam could push 500+ rwhp out of a 5.7 with good reliability. Sexy as all hell, and Great for sales and drag races but not NASA ST2 class racing. Too much HP.
Detunded stokers to get crazy torque numbers. with a TB plate and hole the size of a dime, to choke down the air for HP
Specific parts TBD
If Chevy could build 50 LS6 crates engines, they might be scooped up like a hand full of M&Ms
the Speed World GT race engines, the old LS6 or LS2 blocks. great race engines but still $15K each.

According to the GM brass at VIR this summer, the LS6 isn't dead. They will build more when the demand gets to 60 or so units. From what I was told, that was the point where it becomes economical enough for them to build more and put them in the pipeline.
Is there someway we can gather enough orders through one dealer to trip that magic bar?

The LS3 and road courses do not seem to work without dry sump so it would be needed.

That is why I mentioned the LS2 or LS6 block.
Dont think NASA is going to change the HP:WT ratio for the Super Touring classes.
and as Vark Mentioned LS3s dont seem to work well unless it has a dry sump, However, the HP levels are too high for ST2 / PTA classes.
Do have one other vender looking into this build. with a price cap of $4 to $6 K
Depending on parts that are available
LS2 short block, ( since LS6 short blocks are
243 heads, hollow and sodium valves with better valve springs then used in the LS6 ( 7000 rpm red line)
a torque type cam.
LS6 Intake with 75mm PPTB
strong timing chain with dampener
