Default Lug nuts

If this has been discussed before, please forgive me. I learn a lot quickly by asking questions on the forum so I thought I would ask another question.

For your guys doing W2W, tracking and TT's, what lug nuts are you using? I would assume that your OEM's have been replaced? Did you just go somewhere like NAPA and get longer steal 19mm nuts? Does GM produce a longer version, or is a longer version even desirable?

Recently I saw some AL racing nuts that looked good, but I suspect they come from Asia and would not hold up. Would an AL lug nut be durable?

I use NAPA lugnuts.

But if you really want the biggest safety mod you can do, get titanium.

Since your the expert on this subject....

Is that because they are lighter and you walk on your tippy-toes or because they make noise when you walk?

Probably overkill but every couple of years I go to NAPA and get 20 lug nuts. I inspect the ARP studs everytime the wheel comes off. Just haven't figured a good replacement interval. I replace them when they look worn or stretched.

ARP wheel studs and Summit Racing open end lugs which are really just private labeled Gorilla Lugs that can be had cheaper than generic OEM style lugs from Autozone or Advanced. Was suspect at first, but when I got them in and compared them to a set from Gorilla they're the exact same item material and part number stamped on them and all

I use C4 or C5 lug nuts with external threads for the plastic lug cover. Tough lug nuts can beat the hell out of them. Too bad they still don't install them at the factory but I think the waxers complained to much so we got the cheap stainless steel covered ones now.

My stupid aftermarket wheels use 17mm lugs so I had to special order an open ended set. Also, I have a die that I run over the stock studs occasionally to get all the crap out of threads that could maul threads on studs and/or lugs. I have ARPs on the rear but I don't run the die over them - should I?
