Corvette Racing going GRAND-AM racing
Oliver Gavin has been posting about a big announcement tomorrow (Tuesday) and it just so happens that he is currently at Daytona. I'm hoping that Corvette Racing does not dissolve into this and continues in ALMS and at LeMans.

Those who follow Grand Am have seen pictures of the new DP bodies having styling ques from manufacturer's street cars.
I would suspect the Corvette DP will have lights that look like the C6 and actually use the taillights from the Vette.
Still, it will be nice to see some more manufacturer interest in Grand Am.
With the viewership dropping in ALMS, it should not be too suprising to see GM covering their bets with more interest in both series or dropping ALMS all together.
Another thing to remember is the distribution of sponsor dollars; isn't there supposed to be a Chevrolet engine in Indy Car again? Of course if they were allowed to share that base engine with different series there would economies of scale. I really have not kept up with the Indy Car developments but do have a more than passing interest in Grand Am.
I sure wish Toyota would do something other than NASCAR and Off Road. Oh, and wicked midget engines that would be really cool in my Van Dieman!

Looks like it is all DP stuff. With the state of the ALMS, GM might be wise to go Grand Am, but I don't think they could admit they are in the wrong series even if they are.
Hopefully I'll remember to watch tomorrow. Only wish I could afford to race whatever the announce.

Really looking forward to seeing the chevy dp finished product. Pratt and Miller does great work! And their shop is unreal. You can eat off the floors there!

I will say that the car looks a million times better than the current DP cars.

Le Mans Master
The website says it will be run by 4 privateer DP teams (Gainsco, Suntrust and 2 Action Express Racing Teams). So according to speed no factory team, so they will probably still run ALMS and just sell these cars to private entrants.

I have to say that it is a 1000x better than the current cars! I have to say, I sort of like it!! I am still not sure what Corvette Racing's overall strategy is but I am at least happy they mentioned the Marsh Racing Corvettes in the presentation.
