Default 2012 NARRA calendar changed! Road Atlanta in April.

2012 NARRA calendar changed! Road Atlanta in April.
NARRA's 2012 April event now Road Atlanta.

USGTC, Whelen USTTC and USPDE calendar now "epic".
Date changes to four events in schedules published prior.

The US GT Championship, Whelen US TimeTrial Championship and US Performance Driver Education program's 2012 calendar, released Tuesday, has been altered to include yet another top tier track.

The second event of the year will now be held April 13-15 at the iconic Road Atlanta circuit, home of the Petit
Le Mans. This takes the place of Texas World Speedway, first announced for April 20-23.

Meanwhile, July's VIR event has moved forward a week (now July 6-8), and the Whelen US TimeTrial Championship has been confirmed for August's (24-26) Monticello event.

Tuesday's announcement had already brought forward September's Texas World Speedway event, now the 21st through 23rd.

The 2012 North American Road Racing Association Calendar is now as follows:

Mar 23-25 INDE Motorsports Ranch - Wilcox, AZ

Apr 13-15 Road Atlanta - Braselton, GA

May 11-13 Road America - Elkhart Lake, WI

June 8-10 New Jersey Motorsports Park - Millville, NJ

July 6-8 Virginia International Raceway - Alton, VA

Aug 24-26 Monticello Motor Club - Monticello, NY

Sep 21-23 Texas World Speedway - College Station, TX

Oct 19-21 Watkins Glen International - Watkins Glen, NY

"Epic is how I would describe this announcement, our final 2012 schedule, and this week," said Tom Antonelli, NARRA Director, President and CEO.

"I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better calendar anywhere. The quality of venues, and their spread around the country, rivals American Le Mans and Grand-Am.

This schedule is going to attract some big names and big teams. Where else can you take your car and race against professional outfits?

If you're the owner of a high-end or high-horsepower GT car, this [NARRA] is the place to be. Make sure you've got the right dates written down. You won't want to miss out.

Competitors in the national USGT and Whelen US TimeTrial championships as well as first time track-day students will have the opportunity to drive Road Altanta, Road America, the Glen, VIR, in Arizona, New Jersey, and in Texas.

We have also just struck a deal allowing both our national championships to run at Monticello. The Whelen USTTC
will join the USGTC. Our driver education program won't be there.

Things move fast in motorsport. Tuesday's 'completed' calendar was quick lived, with an almost instant update. And then something happened we weren't expecting- Road Atlanta called, not wanting to be left out.

All I can say is, thank you to Texas World Speedway for being so understanding. We were very excited to be going there twice this year but they understood just as we did, for our competitors alone, we couldn't turn down Road Atlanta.

If you were thinking of only racing local or regional this year, think again. Come and race the nation with NARRA."

2012 Dodge Viper Cup calendar to be announced shortly.

Jeff - same here, but their Road Atlanta date is the same as NASA-SE RRR event. I'd love to make a run at the TT2 championship this year with NARRA, but that means giving up on full season with SE. As always - decisions.

I am surprised there are no stops in FL - Daytona, Sebring, etc. Maybe something will be added?

Hmmm some of these dates migh fit in my work schedule better than the NASA dates. Anyone know how they handle Instructors/time trials/etc?

Not going door to door but time trial and instructing is where I'm comfortable.
Real comfortable at Road ATL and VIR

I had all but eliminated them from consideration. I will be that that event, and now maybe the VIR one too. Now to see how to make TTU and TT-1 work on the same car.

I ran VIR last year and it was fun.

I instructed and TT - they provide all the stickers for the car, so you don't need to have anything made prior to, except your numbers. Just 1 student both days. If you instruct and TT you pay 50% of the entrance fee (I think it was 400 last year, so 200 if you instruct). I'd do it again, very laid back, tons of track time and some very cool cars!

I ran and instructed with them last year at CMP, they run great events that aren't over crowed but very exciting, should be fun.

I ran TT and instructed last year at Road Atlanta event. It was like a Chin event that also had a race. Instructor duty covered the fee there.

I will miss Road Atlanta if it is the same weekend as RRR with NASA-SE though.

I am thinking about a TT2 season run next year but the road miles would be brutal. They have really cool trophies

Yeah, thinking the same. This year championship is your best 6 finishes (3 weekends) plus championship weekend which is likely the Watkins Glen event in October.

So RA and VIR, plus NJMP and WG - both 10-12 hours away! Trophy is pretty cool - I got two of them!!
