Default Race Slick Size/Wheel

I got some used slicks at an event. They feel OK but are pretty old but were barely scrubbed in.

Yokohama

280-650/R18

A005A - C4320L

320-650/R18

A0005-BB720L-1

I have 4 C5Z Speedlines - 18x10.5 to run on my C5Z

I can't find fitment info on Yoko's site - but Hoosier says the 320's should go on a 11-13" wheel

The 280 says 10-12" so I think that's OK.

I am attending the last event of my year at Chin right after T-Giving and all my Hoosiers are done.

Yes? No? Maybe but I might DIAF?

I am just about to take them to get mounted as they LOOK like they'll fit the car at least in the rear but....

TIA

320-650/R18 is too tall a tire for a C5. The C6 Z06 can handle a 310 and maybe the 320 but if you try using it on a C5 not only is the tire to wide for a 10.5 rim you will have active handling problems because of the height of the tire. (even if you turn it off)
Been there tried it and it doesn't work.
use the 280 in the rear and find you some front tires.
Free advise from someone who's been doing this a very long time.

Sounds like a plan

I kinda thought something like that.

I may just bite it and order a new set of Hoosiers but I'm adding the AP/Hardbar Kit so it complicates things.

I think you're confused - 320 is the width, 650 is diameter and I see no reason why it would be too tall for a C5. both of these are the same height since diameter is 650 on each tire. 320/650/18 is basically between 315/30 and 335/30 so heigh-wise it'll fit. Width - it will be too much for a 10.5 inch wheel.

As this gentleman suggests - use 280 all around, you'll probably end up with some oversteer.

I can run the C5Z front wheel w/ a small spacer for now - so...

What would I use to match a 3ish year old race slick on the rear?

I feel that new tires are a better bet - or at least a matched set.

ukrbmw, believe me when I tell you it won't work. I am only trying to save someone a lot of grief. I not only own a Corvette racing school, but have been racing Corvette's since 1999 and have tried many tire combinations. I know what I'm talking about, but we all have to learn the hard way so go ahead and try it. I wish you luck and my last 2 cents worth; if the tires are 3 years old, throw them away. Just trying to help, but you won't hurt my feelings any when you wreck the car and think to yourself " I should have listened".

Well, maybe you just used different terminology, but a 650 is not "too tall" for C5, 320 maybe too wide though.

KNS - it'll be hard for you to match something else. If you've got a lot of experience put something on and adjust your driving style accordingly, make sure it's an R-Comp. If not, do you have 4 280 tires? Use that. Or wait until you can get some Yokes to match in the rear.

Easy guys - it's the holiday season!

I could probably figure something out.

But 1-800 PhilsTireService was much easier and makes a lot more sense to me.

New R6's on the way.

LOL - nobody is fighting.

Good call. He is right, 3 year old used tires is like playing the lottery - they can go all weekend or blow up in your first session.
