Default Transponder installation Question

Installing a hardwired MyLaps transponder on my C6Z06. The transponder instructions are to mount vertical without metal or carbon fiber beneath. I can't find a suitable spot in the engine bay. The wheel housing is an option but not ideal because of rain and track debris. If mounted inside the car, would the carbon composite floor panel interfere with the signal?

i've used mine in the rear storage well for years(rechargeable), but I'm just doing HPDE. So I don't care where/when it goes over the timing loop.

DQ'd for using red wire for grounding!!
You should also be using Sun Auto Hyper Ground wire (the titanium lug nuts of wiring) for all grounds:

There are plenty of places up front to zip tie the unit. It is pretty hardy.

That's actually the hot wire. I put an eyelet on it and just stuck it to the terminal on the under -hood fuse box. I can just loosen the nut so it doesn't drain on the battery and it makes it easy to swap to another car if needed.

[QUOTE=sperkins;1579710369]Zip tie to lower radiator support
Rivet to radiator shroud

I considered this, but I have a carbon fiber undertray that extends all the way back to the bottom of the radiator. Plus the area immediately in front of the radiator is solid metal on a C6. I also considered on the shroud between the radiator and front of the engine but can't find a spot to mount it vertically. Can it be mounted at an angle?

Maybe zip tie it to the cradle?
Send David Farmer a message about it. He's the only one I know with a C6Z.

You can splice a lighter connection on the end of it and use the lighter receptacle in the car to power it.

Take it out when you're not using it.

The 6C does not have a wheel well in the cargo area. However, I will check the storage compartment tomorrow and see what is underneath.

Thanks

I just attached mine to the passenger seat rail and shoot through the floor. I did cut some carpet out of the way but that was for fit as much as anything.

This is a C5, but should work in C6. Passenger side foot well, out of the weather, shoots thru balsa wood/plastic floor panel just fine.

I just cram mine under the passenger carpet. They are more powerful than the manufacturer leads you do believe

I'm ordering the exhaust ground kit RIGHT NOW. Man that looks like it will really free up some HP by letting the exhaust flow better.

I might have them package them together with my titanium lugnut offer as well, since they are the single safest thing to do to your car.
