Default Where to buy: Functional C5 Diffuser

Does anyone know where you can find one for a C5? I've seen a few for sale, but nothing designed to be functional. Thanks!

Mmmm. Not too many people have responded to your query. Nobody I know has a fully functional diffuser in production especially for the C5. You can fabricate one yourself if you are proficient with sheet metal. All you need is a flat piece of aluminum from behind the front wheel well and bend it at the rear axle at an angle of between 10 to 20.' A wing section with end plates like the ALMS car can augment diffuser efficiency and you may be able to increase the ramp angle to 30', space permitting. It can cover the rear axle, existing exhaust and extend it beyond the rear bumper. Gearbox temp could suffer.
The actual diffuser design can be very elementary like the one required for the 012 C6R in ALMS. You can copy the ramp angle shown on this forum on the home page. You would have to monitor gearbox temperatures.

You can purchase a model of this car and eyeball some of the details or check it out at Sebring.
The rules don't allow any fences but you can add as many as you like to prevent lateral flow.

There are a number of factors to consider. The most important is the separation of cold air flow from hot. A fully covered floor such as on the C5R and C6R comes at a high cost.
Apart from controlling ride height and droop with the appropriate suspension mods, You will have to take the exhausts out the side and run the radiator air over the top of the car. Even then, there is engine and transmission heat that must escape above the floor and the diffuser. This is an 1/8th scale model of the Daytona C5R GT1 car of the Earrnard's.

Note hot air outlet above the diffuser.

If you bring the exhausts down the center of the car and allow radiator air flow to escape out the open engine compartment under the car, the center of the car should not be covered. There should be a satisfactory outlet out the back from the center tunnel and above the diffuser. Like I said, if you cover the center, watch those gearbox temps. You can drop the floor about an inch for airflow between the floors. See that detail on the model.

If you retain the stock set up, it will require a side feeder system such as that of an Enzo Ferrari. Fences will have to be made to direct airflow under the car. There are ground clearance problems with this type of fence. I have made two of these for customers.

Obviously, this is the correct way to do it.

APR does a nice replica wing.

The best way to measure downforce, will be your improvement in lap times if you don't have load sensors. PM me if you have questions.

if you want something to work with ebay has some really good universal ones. You will have to play with them to mount them like you want. there is alot if you google it as well. Anywhere from 1500$ CF ones to powder coated alum ones at 80$ a piece. Could be a good place to start to work one like you want it

The model above is nice but it is nothing like the underside of a real C5R not even remotely
