Corvette's get Wins at Palm Beach Grand Prix
HSR's Palm Beach Grand Prix was the second points race of the season for the Crane Cams V8 StockCar Road Racing Series and Corvette's did well.
Charles Wicht driving his V8 GT-1 tube frame Rocketsports Corvette got the class win on Saturday with a great pass under braking on the next to last lap over Trans Am regular Simon Gregg in the Derhaag Motorsports Corvette. Both Wicht and Gregg were well under the V8 Series GT-1 track record.
On Sunday Gregg returned the favor leading wire to wire in a close race.
In the V8 GT2 class Jason Krikorian used his Phoenix built C5 T1 Corvette for the win over Dell Haverland in another T1 Corvette. Haverland got the win on Sunday.
GT-1 driver Bill Riddell and GTA racer Randy Walker won the Crane Cams contingency awards: $ 250 Crane Cams Product certificates.
Corvette Racing's Jan Magnussen swept the Nordic Camaro Cup races over a fast field. Magnussen won the Sebring races as well, going 5 for 5 for the US races.
There was a nice crowd for the event with PBIR main parking lot nearly full.
The Crane Cams V8 Series next event will be at CMP March 30-31 with SCCA. NASA ST2 types fit nicely into our V8 GT-2 class.

Rob Nimkoff brought out his very cool, V8 GT-2 (STO) Aston Martin Vantage. Finished second on saturday, and would have cruised to a win on Sunday, but was black flagged as his window net came down.

Trans Am Champion Tony Ave was behind the wheel of another of owner Larry Beebe's fast cars. Mechanical gremlins kept Tony from challenging for the win, he did however have the weekends fast lap at a 2:03 and change.

Ricky Sanders finish third on Sunday in V8 GTA in this ex Reed Sorenson ASA DELCO Series
car. Ricky cut a fine 2:15 in the race with an original Lingenfelter LS1 from circa 2004. These are about 430 hp at the flywheel. A lot of speed for cars that can be bought for 20-25 K.
