Default Brake bleeding question

When installing my headers, I tried removing this (see arrow in pic). It made a sucking sound like air was being sucked into the line so I immediately stopped. After the install, I stepped on the brake and the pedal felt sponge. Will a simple brake bleed fix this issue? Any thoughts would be helpful

Don't worry about it. That is the vacuum booster. When you start your car all will be fine.

You did not open the brake hydraulic system so a bleed will not do any good. Make sure that the booster vacuum line is properly reinserted in the booster canister. Start the engine and run it at slightly above idle for 30 seconds or so to get vacuum back. Your pedal should firm right up.

it is just a vacuum reservoir for the boost, it will recharge as soon as you start the car.
