Infineon Raceway losing Infineon
Article in S.F. Chronicle recently stated that Infineon (the tech company) is pulling out of the raceway at Sears Point, CA. Infineon paid over $37 million during their sponsorship but apparently new management was not into motorsports. Wonder who/what could be in line to be the next sponsor considering economy has not yet fully recovered (will it ever?). Of course any oil company would have the $$$$$. Chevron Raceway anybody? Maybe they can privatize the racetrack by selling "membership shares". Can I buy the Carousel?

I have never referred to the track as Infineon...ever...still amuses me when I tell people I race at Sears Point, they go "where is that?". Hehe....ALWAYS will be Sears Point to me!

I've almost always called it Sears Point too. The track is also halfway on my work commute. I've always marvelled at the "city" that springs up across the street from the track during Nascar and/or NHRA weekends. Basically from nothing the Wednesday before to bumper-to-bumper RVs then totally gone on my way home Monday p.m.

I agree. It's always been sear point to me. I grew up just a few miles away and remember always being fascinated by the track every time we drove by. Still remember the whole hillside being filled with all the orange bondurant cars.

Remember "Pave the Point" ?
For X amount dollars they were offering free track time for life, IRRC.
Probably wouldn't have held up after that idiot Smith bought the track.
I still have a "Get to the Point" tee shirt in the closet.
