Default made my own splitter

So after hunting all over for what i wanted, i was tired of either the service of places, or the cost of sum. Because really..a splitter is a wear and tear item on a car that is used on the street. I found a place that sells .250 abs plastic sheets and went to work

Man, you are going to have a ton of front down force. You may need to add support to the front facia.

The splitter is bolted to the bumper, but also is mounted to the frame as well

What is the piece between the splitter and the bumper?

Thanks,

I did a test just to 130mph and man i could really see a difference. The front it not loose anymore due to the wing. In fact i could fell the rear get loose over small hills. Now i can actually tune thr wing to balance it out. I love this crap

Looks great. Can you shoot more pictures? I want to see how you mounted the undertray under the car. Did you block the sides of the radiator? How did you mount the turn buckles? I want to make one also, but I need more ideas.

thanks,

Steve A.

Mind sharing the source and cost of materials? How much does that piece weigh?

I didnt want to pay the huge amount for shipping. You can abs plastic online all over, but shipping is insane. I found a local place that sold .250 thick 4x8 sheets for 120$ the splitter was made from 6'x3'. The piece weighs maybe 3-4 lbs if that. Super light durable stuff.

If I were you, I'd make a cut out template to include the holes and hook some brothers up. That is an awesome creation and I been wanting to do a splitter for quite some time, but they are either too short, too tall, too weird, etc. You concept is awesome.

I also understand the need for a rear wing to balance out the down-force up front as well. Spoke with another forum member on the phone a few times reference his nice set up as well.

Great concept! And it looks awesome!!!

For once, I come to find a useful thread started by you that isn't a political rant against that bozo in the White House. Hahahaha (Most of which, I agree with too)

Thanks for sharing

I have an aci splitter kicking around collecting dust, might be a good project do you have a better pic of the inside of your wheel well that shows how you mounted that vertical piece to the new splitter and also to the wheel well?? Great job

Thank you guys. Been pondering this project and doing alot of research for a long while now. I will get some more pics tonight or tomorrow. The bad thing with duplicating my splitter to fit another car is you would need an aci or one like it to bolt to. All i did was mount it to the rad frame section, or bumper scrape gaurds, then drilled through the splitter and aci once it was on to make sure the holes mounted perfect. I took the bumper off and set it on the splitter to get the perfect fit. I had to do alot of cutting once it was on to match it up perfect.

Found another possibility for material.

http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/Sheet-Stock-1ZBB3

Grainger says shipping weight on a 4x8 sheet of 1/4" ABS is 44 lbs.

I really think it needs to be at least .250 thick. i think 1/8" may be way to thin for rigidity

That turned out great. I had the sme idea for if I ever go full out ST2 and can do aero. Get the ACI waxer front chin spoiler cheap and add ABS or alumalite to make it a proper splitter.

Any place that sells plastics should be able to get you what you need...

You could even do it in 1/4" thick Delrin if you wanted...

Excellent work...

Oops! Thought I had clicked on the 1/4" size.
They want a little more for that and the shipping weight shows at 40 lbs.
