Default Looking for new AX slicks

Been looking for a new set of autocross slicks and I was curious as to how much of a difference there could be in the tires based on date code.

For example, is a late 2010 date code reasonably good for a brand new set of unmounted tires? Can I expect a reduced number of heat cycles because the tires are something like 17 months old?

that should be fine as long as they were stored responsibly (not in the sun etc).
